We've already got Stanley Matthews' Way and Gordon Banks' Drive so it seems a bit of overkill to have stands named after them as well.

We could extend this to car parks.
The North Car park could be renamed the 'Kevin Harper penalty zone' after his infamous Sheffield Wednesday penalty, or did it reach the A50? The South Car Park could be renamed 'The Michael Duberry clearance area' after many of his clearances that landed there.
If we're feeling really fruity, we could rename the incinerator to 'The Pericard arena' after where many of his shots ended up.
I'd be inclined to rename the Main Stand to the 'Decorators Stand' as a timely reminder to underperforming directors...

I always thought we should’ve just named the stadium after an ex player when we moved away from Britannia. I understand the financial elements but Bet365 is just a shit name for a stadium.
The Stanley Matthews Stadium sounds so much better.

Richie Pulis Smith Shawcross
2 old. 2 new.
Smith and Matthews were born in Meir and Hanley respectively, so probably in with the best shout.

Matthews - Our most skilled outfield player and football's first Knight Banks - the world's best keeper during much of his time with us. Ritchie - still our record goal scorer Franklin - Probably England's best ever centre half and treated shabbily by the club after the Bogota affair
And I'd name the medical room (if we have one) after Denis Smith!
I'd be tempted to name the upper tier of the main stand after Greenhoff who remains my favourite player.

Freddie Steele could be in with a shout too I guess. I'd like statues of all of the above around the ground, a different shrine to worship and pray at!

Matthews: main stand, goes without saying doesn't it? Banks: away end, he's an iconic England player of course so this seems fitting + behind the goal seems fitting for a keeper Franklin: we simply don't celebrate him enough, arguably England's most talented ever centre back, certainly the bets for Stoke by a country mile & when I was a kid everyone's grandad said he was better than Matthews
the other end should stay as the Boothen End imho
The alternative is to rename the ground the Sir Stanley Matthews stadium (as it should been from day one really) that way you can affix whoever current sponsor is e.g. BET365 Sir Stanley Matthews stadium
re name main stand Franklin stand & then that leaves a stand for someone else, Denis Smith would be my choice but there is a case for Waddington, McGrory,Steele,Ritchie, Hudson even e.t.c.
tie it all up with tons of pictures, banners signs, plaques whatever
obviously all this should have been done when it was built Moxey out
have to wonder about Peter Coates view in all this, seems he isn't keen, really can't understand why.

Yes, Steele was probably our most natural ever striker - a hat trick for England should confirm that. I chose Ritchie mainly because he had such a long career (in two spells) during which time his performance levels remained high, whereas Steele (probably because of confidence/mental issues) never really maintained his early prolific goals tally.
