I’m sure Soccer AM did a skit about women on MOTD some years ago but I can’t find a video of it

That is the very definition of prejudice. It's my personal preference. I'd rather see men as pundits or commentating. Doesn't make me a bad person or anything else like that. I agree. I'd rather see men as Prime Ministers also. And newsreaders. Doctors definitely. I'm neutral on Covid vaccine researchers. However, presenting the weather. Or doing the letters on Countdown. I'm certainly OK with that.

Ok, can we not just let this embarrassing thread die already? It makes for comical reading but has very little to do with football and for it to be towards the top of a public supporters forum in 2021 make Stoke fans look rather embarrassing. You do realise when you post on it takes it back toward the top don't you Good point! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

Sums it up. Stay angry? Solution: rubber bullets 😉 So injustice in society and racism are ok? God no, what an awful thing to suggest!

Well we've only had two female PMs and they were both Tory. Over to you Labour 😎

This is completely irrational and nuts I know but one thing that gets my goat is the BBC Football website. When looking for fixtures, scores etc the drop down list of Leagues puts Women’s Super League and Scottish Premier League above the Championship and other EFLs.

There is a lot to be said about some of the people commenting in this thread. I'm not sure it's particularly pleasant.

I like to read through all the football results including Scottish, Welsh, Women’ leagues etc, but find it highly irritating when they are not grouped together in a logical sequence.

What do the admin actually do on this forum?
Imagine if a fan of another club comes onto this site, as they regularly do, and sees this thread title?
They’d lump us all under that thick Stokie bracket like everyone else does. It’s embarrassing.

If black people were talked about in the way women are spoken about on here the poster would be banned. There are often sexual innuendos towards female presenters or players wives which have nothing whatsoever to do with football and should not be allowed. Until this is understood we will continue to have horrific cases like the murder of Sarah Everard. There is no reason at all why women presenters cannot be as good as men. In fact the other week Ian Wright claimed he and the other male presenters had had to up their game because female presenters did such a lot of research that they were far more well informed.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that she is a woman, Nige gets plenty of pelters on here for his commentary it's simply because the OP thought it was annoying. I know plenty of women who remark on how sexy some footballers are and how they like their legs. PS Female football presenters and footballers wife's do have something to do with football, Sarah Everard doesn't.

Saying women shouldn't pundits in men's football - as more than one post on this thread does - is emblematic of prejudices and attitudes to women that need to change though. And Nige's gender isn't invoked when he's getting pelters. There aren't threads that say 'could somebody shut that bloody man up' are there?

Saying women shouldn't be presenters is wrong, I was just quoting the OP who said this Karen woman is annoying, he didn't say she shouldn't commentate, although the title of his thread is specific to the fact that he's referring to a woman is that wrong or just a figure of speech? It's okay in my opinion to say I'd prefer a man/woman to do the commentary as it's a personal choice just like my sister will only see a female doctor, it's not illegal just a right of choice.

A preference commentary-wise based purely on gender just seems prejudicial. What's the basis for it?

No but as long as men think it's OK to comment on women with reference to their sex rather than as individuals and to say that women ask for it if they walk alone at night then there will be men who think it's OK to take it one step further and think it's OK to attack women if they're alone. I don't notice women on here commenting on how sexy a footballer is whereas there are plenty of men telling me what they'd like to do to female Sky presenters or players' wives without any come back from admin.

Don't worry I don't but I do believe that there are some frustrated men for whom it is a small step from sexual remarks on a chat room and looking at soft porn type images of women's bums and boobs to going out and finding a woman to put their hands on those said body parts. I think anything in the public domain which sexualises women should be taken down immediately and the poster should be warned. That's not to say that amongst friends or family you can't comment on people you find attractive.
