According to wikipedia Leslie Phillips and Jim Dale now only regular surviving cast members still alive. RIP Barbara, loved the Carry On films as a kid growing up in the 70s but haven't watched one for years now.

Very sad. My father had Alzheimer's for the last few years of his life. It is a terrible disease, has terrible effects on family as well as the patient. And it is no respecter of wealth or class - anyone might get it if they live long enough. It is to her credit that she was open about the illness for several years after it struck her down and was for several years an ambassador of the Alzheimer's Society..
Lovely lady, part of the lives of not just my generation but 3 or 4 generations and a remarkably good serious actress even though she will be remembered most for her Carry On films and as Peggy Mitchell.
RIP Babs.

I spent most of my younger years straining for a glimpse of her boobs on the carry on films and still watch them to this day. An iconic bit of TV where her bikini top flew off exercising to then be dragged away by her arm revealing said boobs magic stuff RIP Babs.

I think Jim Dale who was my fave was the only one who made big money in the earlier days as he co wrote the song Georgie Girl later used in an advert in the USA and on stage and married a wealthy NY art dealer. I think what summed up their pay was Carry on Screaming which Sid turned down to do panto. Some great stories in various bios, Charles Hawtrey was a difficult drunk apparently who forgot lines but could ad lib.

Apparently, panto is serious money, especially for the ‘names’ who pull the punters in. One season in a regional panto can allow an actor to ‘rest’ for the rest of the year in very comfortable circumstances. Back to Babs. RIP.

True have a friend who co writes and casts panto locally and some can get good money but I think Bernard Bresslaw got £1000 for one Carry In film. A few z listers do quite well out of panto these days
