With our injury list, it stiffs me to think that MON will start or use Vokes/Ince this Saturday. And do you think the abuse they get on here will motivate them to do well for the supporters or club? They are our players and as such should be given our support. Criticism after a match is justified but I suspect the abuse Vokes got was a result of the penalty miss (and we should be used to those now) rather than anything else on Tuesday. At least he doesn't hide behind a fake injury and refuse to play. If he puts in effort it is purely for the manager not us fans as I'm sure he is aware of our feelings for him. I have talked before of how I am sure that fans jeering of Ince has affected his mental health making him a worse player. After a month of mental health awareness it seems a lot of people still don't understand how their actions and words can damage mental health. And please don't reply by saying he earns enough to put up with it. Self esteem has nothing to do with how much you are paid. Vokes and Ince could well be important players for us this month so back off the criticism please. Ince by the way has done nothing wrong this season - he hasn't moaned or downed tools and it's not entirely his fault if he hardly touches the ball - he needs it passed to him which sometimes our players are incapable of.

Heard the poor fella went for a country walk yesterday to clear his head but as he walked past one field the entire herd of cows started shaking their arses at him in a provocative manner.

Yes,I'll hold my hands up. I was pissed at him for missing that penalty the other night, but as long as he wears a Stoke shirt and he's on the pitch playing for the club I support he will get my support. I know we as supporters become frustrated when things dont go as we would like or expect them to but we should be encouraging the players and not slating them. If I was playing for a team and constantly got slated, well thats not going to do my confidence any good and make me want to play better. Players need a good run of games not 10 minutes here and there and at the moment Vokes isnt getting it. It looks like he might be our only option up front for now,so lets get behind him and hopefully he will come good.

Extremely harsh because like it or not, we are relying on this guy even more now with the injuries. He's a Stoke player and at least he gets out there and tries ffs. This kind of stuff just makes me want to get behind the player even more. . . I hope he gets invaded by the soul of Diego Maradona and goes on a tear of blinders like the league has never seen So if he scores with the hand of God you approve? LOL YES!! Way I see it - Stoke deserves many decisions to go their way for a change and if he's scoring for Stoke then....

I very much agree, but. This is not a fan forum, it's a discussion forum. If all we did was praise the players, we'd never have any discussions. Second, players are told by the club, any club, to avoid taking part in fora like this one or social media. Nathan Jones did moonlight as a poster for a while, but obviously disappeared when he was sacked. Going on here was pretty foolish on his part.

I don't expect fans to gush unmerited praise just because players play for Stoke but equally they should not just criticise players for who they are or maliciously abuse them for mistakes. I'm sure Vokes and Ince would rather play well than badly and as I said the abuse Vokes is getting is mainly for missing the penalty. I assume as his record isn't great for Stoke that no one else including Powell was particularly willing to step up. Equally Ince was criticised the other week for putting a free kick over the bar when we have seen McLean several times and Powell and even Tyrese do exactly the same without receiving the same abuse. As far as I am concerned players should be criticised for a loss of self discipline resulting in a sending off or penalty, a lack of effort, laziness such as casual flicks to nobody or the inability to carry out the basics like passing the ball five yards to a team mate or not controlling a pass but beyond that you have to accept that not everything they try will succeed.

It was just the way that he continually used the exact same phrases/sentences that he used in his pressers, that he would support the manager (himself) in his messages at a point when nobody else was, and then as I say, as soon as he was gone from the club he was gone from this fora.

Do a search on him and you'll see countless messages about his weight - he's like the new Wimmer in a manner of speaking - his movement, his lack of pace, and his lack of goals. Most of it is pretty stupid, but, a lack of goals is critical for a striker...

I do love a Latin plural. Sadly you’ve used it when the singular was necessary ☹️

Is it a lack of talent or a lack of confidence though? Strikers are notorious for hot streaks when everything they touch seems to go into the net and they carry on scoring because they have confidence that they are going to score. It's a circle of score goals which breeds confidence which means you score more. Then gk's seem to save your best efforts or someone just gets in the way all of a sudden nothing you do seems to work and you lose confidence and stop scoring. Some of the goals Vokes has scored with his head have been excellent and prove that he is good with his head. And who was fighting him to take the penalty? It fell to him by default as Campbell wasn't on the pitch. I didn't notice Powell or anyone else saying they wanted to take it.

He is naturally big boned but not fat. I also think he does a lot of running around to close down the gk/defenders but is not a natural athlete. As I said criticise him for things he does wrong in a particular match after the match but not for ahis attribute.

I think you're right in your description of him, but it's probably not appreciated by some that don't have the understanding of how a team works and the individual roles within it. For them your sentence would have stopped at he does a lot of running around full stop.

Up he pops like a particularly buoyant turd that just won’t flush away! There is no doubt that no marks such as yourself undermine the collective effort of Stoke City and it’s genuine supporters. The only mitigation I suppose is that you are not unique; all clubs have a few arseholes, so I suppose it broadly cancels out in the long run.
