Some people say they sometimes don't know what day it is or what time it is, when they wake up.
Well yes, maybe that's not anything particularly unusual.
Some people say they sometimes don't know where they are, when they wake up.
Hm. Well if you are on a journey and wake up in a different environment in another bed, then it's completely understandable.
But it's rare to hear someone say they didn't know WHO they were in the morning when they woke up.
Nevertheless, it happens to me every now and then.
Do you always know (who you are)?

"Once upon a time, I dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was myself. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.,"

An influential Taoist philosopher who lived around 2500 years ago in this story outlines the fragility of identity and the power of belief

That did happen to me once after some magic mushrooms. Not recommended.
