Our coaching staff is completely packed with ex-Stoke players. Foghorn, Rooster, Rory, Liam, Gareth Owen.. there's probably a few more in there. It's an Oatcake wet dream

Surely we’ve got 63 players from our premiership era who apparently should be given a coaching role within the club ahead of him?
They’ve got no badges but they’d be good to have around the place

Didn’t SJW say he was joining the coaching team? Did that ever happen?

Superb signing by Lou that really played a massive part in our 92/3 season title win.Great left peg on him and also useful with his head.My own personal favourite was at Hartlepool on a freezing winter's afternoon and he looped a very late winner into the net infront of the away fans to spark a great celebration, made the long journey and cold weather all worth it.Loved Foghorn's time at the club.

Great player for us, was gutted when he left us for Burnley
Let's hope his coaching can be just as influential as his playing was

Reminiscent of that great era where it seemed after the coup of Coates bringing Lou in from Birmingham City, it was proceeded by alot of their better players at the time coming in too. Gleghorn, Forsyth, Clarkson, Overson, Sturridge, Potter included aswell as probably others.. Blues fans must of hated us back then.. 🤔 infact history proved that was a given on & off the pitch..

Didn’t SJW say he was joining the coaching team? Did that ever happen? The gleghorn article in the sentinel mentions SJW's role as well as roles of other former players.

SJW has left.
You can add Ryan too, as he coaches my lad's age group.

I don’t always agree with ex-players returning to the club, especially when it seems that it happens just because they have a connection. In this case though, I welcome it as Gleggy always came across as a very intelligent footballer, so hopefully he can pass on his knowhow.

Just checked up, says we had him from Burnley! Didn’t Macari manage him at Birmingham though before Macari joined us? Argh gotcha, he'd of certainly known of him for abit as their paths did cross briefly at Blues. Macari was only there for about 4x months before Pete tempted him to the bright lights of the Potteries! Just checked up & apparently Gayle scored a brace in the League Cup Final where Blues beat Tranmere 3-2 including an overhead kick! Obviously left an impression on Lou to bring him to Stoke a year or so later! Peschisolido was another great signing from Blues we had in the early 90's but obviously that was one of Joe Jordans only & better moments as our manager! £400k swap deal with Dave Regis that was, wow! We did let them have Kenny Lowe off us though, remember him?!

May as well just use cardboard cut outs.

From what I remember of him he wasnt a bad player, definitely more of a get stuck in than flair player, he just never really looked like a footy player to me!

Hartlepool away - 19th December 1992. Remember it like it was yesterday. Got lost on the way there (badly) and broke down (badly) on the way home! For the record there were 4,201 present, we won 2-1 with Dave Regis getting the 1st goal. Sinclair, Butler, Cranson, Overson, Sandford. Foley, Ware, Gleghorn, Russell. Stein, Regis. Beeston came on for Regis. This result was the 5th out of 7 consecutive league wins. Steino played all 46 league games that season finishing with 26 goals. Cranson played 45 matches, Butler and Foley 44 with Overson playing 43. Steino also played 11 cup games scoring 7 goals so he ended up with 33 goals from 57 games in total. A few of my all time favourite players in that team. It was a great time to follow the team and I loved Lou to bits. The 2-2 draw at Brighton 3 weeks later also sticks in my mind as a memorable away day. Just don't mention the Cup games that season ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/4tzqvp1fxEemag_TAXLJ.gif) And I struggle to remember what I did last week!
