I think he's been entirely steady which is fine. But I'm still not convinced he's a wing back. I still want to see him on the wing or in midfield. Only time he’s been decent is in midfield, he’s poor in defence

I'm concerned about either Tymon or McClean against Brentford to be honest.
Think we need a bit more defensive nous out on that side, without going full on Fox.

Weirdly, I thought his best work against Barnsley was when we went down to 10 men and he had to do more defending! When Collins was sent off, I thought Tymon would be our Achilles heel defending on that flank.

He needs to be managed carefully. He was outstanding as a youngster playing for England at 2 levels and in the Premier League at a young age. Then he came to a struggling club, with a rotten dressing room by many accounts, and rotating management. Surprise, surprise his form went to pot. But he has come back and been a revelation. He is still young and going to struggle at times, like he did Wednesday, without Clucus. I thought Soutter also let a few mistakes creep into his game. Tymon should not be over-worked but neither is he going to get better siting on the bench. It is up to MO'N to determine when it is right for him to play and when he should be rested and kept hungry. i agree re Tymon but surely if a player hasn't played well for a couple or more games then perhaps he should be possibly dropped to the bench and his place shouldn't be a gimme. He's been a weak link lately after some good performances You are still talking about 2 or more. That's 3 games out of a possible 3. If he was "not playing well" for all of his games he wouldn't be selected. You're being excessively negative. I think he struggled in a struggling team vs Barnsley, and it went from poor to worse, when he was forced to go back to playing as a fullback, not even wingback anymore, when Collins was sent off. The reason Tymon has been a revelation is because he was freed, at least partially, from the defensive role he was shoehorned into when he joined us. He's really reveled when he's been playing centrally in midfield, but, O'Neill, lacking a proper wingback (or two or three), still sees his future there. Contrary to you I think he's actually shown some improvement defensively as he's grown in confidence, until the Barnsley game. But he is not a defender. We will not see him fully prosper unless we address that.

Am all for players in form being selected and you're wrong in assuming what I I think re his defensive capabilities not improving in general, just think he hasn't played well. Wasn't just Barnsley, freshening it up will do no harm as games come so thick and fast and maybe sitting one out could help.

Tymon is certainly much better than McClean at defending!
