5 in 5 for Toney after replacing Watkins for a comparative pittance.
Makes you wonder how they keep on doing it.
They have a well established pattern and rhythm of play and select individuals that will slot into it and develop youngsters to do so as well. I have to admit that I am struggling to recognise that approach at Stoke at the moment.

He has scored twice in each of his last three games. Our defence will need to stay switched on for this one.

We beat them last season when they were still looking at automatic promotion and we were still bottom three. We've regressed since then and Brentford have recovered from their disappointments and have a well toned team, whereas we don't. Their manager has a clear and well defined game plan, which the players believe in. We have a system that in key places we don't the players for and our actual game plan is a complete mystery.
I still think we have an outside chance of winning, because we have (finally) become a more cynical team, whereas they believe in playing football the right way, which is admirable but often leaves them open to teams like us. A one goal win for us.

Could be a tough game. They won well last night with Toney bagging another pair. Not sure what the fitness situation is but I’d go with Davies Smith Baath Soutter Fox OB Obi Campbell Powell Brown Fletcher 5 in 5 for Toney after replacing Watkins for a comparative pittance. Makes you wonder how they keep on doing it. I thought it was 7 in his last 4 (gulp)!

Park the bus. Stack the midfield. Play 1-3-6-1. Davies; Souttar, Collins, Smith, ..... Tymon, Thompson, OaKeyBoothe, Mikel, Brown, Campbell, ..... Fletcher. Subs: Gregory, Cousins, Chester, Powell, Clucas.
Just hope Brentford's match with S Wednesday has taken plenty outta them. Respect Brentford all the same because they are playing good football under their coach. 1-1 will do.

Got a feeling they'll be up for this game a little bit more than they may have been under normal circumstances, not so much revenge but more a case of proving a point. It was only a few months ago they rode in to Stoke on a great run with lots of potentials ahead of them & on the cusp of being a Premier League club.
The defeat at our place did seem to change the course of their season & im sure that wouldn't of escaped the minds of the majority of the squad & back room team facing us on Saturday. Points to prove & scores to settle. Hopefully our boys can raise their game again as they did versus them last time & send them home emptied handed again. Sure going to be one tough ask though.

Smith as the leftsided cd, Tymon as right wb, Campbell as left wb...is this an invitation for Brentford to murder us? Just five subs and no ersatz keeper...you know as well as I do that if we do that, then Davies shall be crocked or dismissed; then will we ask Clucas to don the gloves? Respect Brentford by all means, but how about some respect for scfc

Not sure what the fitness situation is but I’d go with Davies Smith Baath Soutter Fox OB Obi Campbell Powell Brown Fletcher I'd play Clucas for TOB and McClean for Brown, if fit, but otherwise we're on the same page. We will keep the 3 at the back, I bet, as MON has hung his hat on it. If he does, then we need wide men in the 3 who are mobile and comfortable being drawn out wide, and wing backs who play far higher up the pitch, at least one of the central 2 who can get forward (not 2 sitters) and Powell behind the front 2. So, using MON's likely formation: Davies Smith (Collins if red rescinded) Souttar Fox/Lindsay Brown Mikel Clucas/TOB McClean/Tymon Powell Fletcher Campbell Would go with that, not Tymon though. Been poor last couple of appearances. Brentford have a good system but you wonder how long they can keep doing it without going up.is impressive the way the unearth/buy players in some cases but you do feel has cost them promotion at the end of it by selling their star players.

With Toney on fire whichever 3 cbs he picks will really need to be on their mettle. I personally don’t think changing the back line is conducive to stability. We do have a habit of switching off and they will certainly punish us if that happens. They have to be a good bet to go up this time. I’d like a win but a draw would be decent

If Fox is fit then we need that left foot on the left of a back three. Not sure about TOB as a right wing back. He has no history of playing there.

MON said he was mindful of workload in a 3-wk week, especially after playing half an hour with 10 men - and straight away mentioned the workload on the wing-backs in this system, as well as midfielders
So maybe expect McClean to play tomorrow.
Whether he'd risk Brown on the right, who knows?

Whether he'd risk Brown on the right, who knows? If he keeps 3 at the back, I'd go McClean left, Brown right, on the flanks and TOB in the middle if Clucas does not make it. We need some pace and drive from the midfield.

I must admit I’m a bit concerned with this one. That striker they’ve signed from Peterborough looks very sharp. Personally I’d settle for a draw.
