My Nephew Matts and a group of mates are walking from Chesterfield FC, dads first club and finishing at the Bet 365 dads final club. The aim is to leave chesterfield at 5pm On Saturday the 24th October (this Saturday) and walk through the night arriving at the Bet 365 around 2.30pm on Sunday . They are doing this in aid of the Dougie Mac. The Dougie Mac enabled us to look after dad at home in his last few days, and we will always be grateful to them. Dad wanted to be at home and not in hospital and he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, this would not have been possible without the Dougie Mac Nurses who were wonderful. For more information please check out. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/matt-gordon-banks-dougie-mac?utm_source=whatsapp&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=matt-gordon-banks-dougie-mac&utm_campaign=pfp-whatsapp&utm_term=92c9b92797784e7eab11b97d28e76d08 I’m very proud of my Matts and his mates for doing this, as not only would a raffle have been easier, it is a long way, plus it’s very hilly and the weather, well it looks pretty grim. So I wish them all luck and please support a worthŷ cause. Goarrrrrn Stokies Wendy Banks

Sign me up, Wendy. My mum was diagnosed with stage four cancer and was treated through The Royal Stoke. She was often in the next booth to your dad when I took her for her chemo sessions. Their sessions were coincidentally synchronised, which meant I saw Gordon at least once a month. I was always torn between being desperate to speak to one of my greatest heroes and affording him the privacy he deserved. I always opted for the latter. She too was looked after by Dougie Mac, who provided her with a support group and a focus throughout her illness, as well as caring for her in the final days. Superb organisation which, like many hospices, is only really appreciated by the families who have needed it.

Come on you Stokies, please get behind this great cause. Dougie Mac's is an amazing organisation that really helps people and their families, when they need it most and deserves all the help it can get. What better way than in memory of the wonderful Gordon Banks,

Well done to all who have taken part and helped raise money for a brilliant organisation.
I hope you don't mind but I have put a link on the onevalefan site to hopefully help to raise more money.
Gordon is a legend and he would have been so proud of what you are all doing. Keep up the good work.

Just wanted to say a big big big thank you to you all, for all you do to help. People from Stoke are the most caring people I know, you give to others even in the toughest of times. I cannot get over your generosity and kindness. Dougie Mac hospice and nurses are truly amazing and I hope we can all continue fundraising efforts for them .
Thank you again it means a lot as it was in dads memory, I know he has a special place in the hearts of many in this city, as he does in mine and the rest of the family. The memories of him are our shared gift to treasure always . Thank you
