Watching tonight's match and the match v Wolves the 2 premiership teams looked like they didn't even break sweat. It's not great to say this after such a great win and we can only beat what's in front of us but Villa seemed to think they could win at a canter with their youngsters. And appeared to treat the game with contempt. Gouranga.

to be fair can totally see team's reasoning as things are
S o many games and can see why many changes but a good run out for some players as we've found

Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutely love us to win it even if no fucker else wants it - I'd take it in a heartbeat. If we did you know what people would be saying though. Gouranga.

Read the replies to the official EFL twitter account for all the 'big' teams talking about winning it now.

There’s often talk of it being demeaned by big clubs but look 👀 who wins it. Same as the fa cup.

When they reach the quarter finals it suddenly seems a lot more important, it still guarantees a place in Europe, doesn't it?

It is far from a prestigious trophy but one that teams like Newcastle should be looking to win rather than the big guns

The League Cup started losing it's appeal when they sold the name of it to advertising as far as I'm concerned.
However, I hope we win it, although I think that's very unlikely to happen.

If Spurs aren't taking the League Cup seriously with their pathetic recent trophy haul then they must be mad.
Often winning a trophy is a catalyst for more success.......

I think this Cup Run is extremely important for us
Firstly it involves the whole squad in meaningful games Very important at the moment. It’s not good at a club when you have too many players sitting out.
Secondly we are getting an opportunity to see the ability of players we otherwise would not have E.g. Souttar if we would have got knocked out in the first round we would not have seen Souttar again
Thirdly this can only raise confidence for individual players, we are seeing players grow up through this competition
Fourthly The Spurs game will give this club some profile and stimulate interest in our support base, hopefully amongst some younger supporters. Need to stay on the map.

Also, if playing a higher division team, they have 'nothing to lose' and 'all to gain' so pressure is off. These games, if lost, , it's sad but they are not necessarily disastrous for the club. The League brings back the pressure to get 3 points as the future of the club does depend on winning more than losing, discipline is stricter and concentration needs to be maintained over many more games than Cup ones. MON needs to manage the number and intensity of games for these younger players, relieve pressure now and again and give them time to adjust to the different needs of Cup and League games, particularly in this compressed season.

Jose likes a trophy and if they give us a beating so what?
League players did extremely well at the end of last season and the cup has given us a chance to slowly bring in certain youngsters
I don't think advertising has diminished the cup as was sponsored way back, just was never a huge cup unless like ourselves or Norwich was our only silverware

I was glad we got the Wolves game because I was certain they'd send us out and we could focus on the league.
I'm a fucking idiot, this has been a godsend for the fans and the manager/squad.

I disagreed with Bayern when he called our game against Wolves as meaningless. At the start of the season these early rounds are crucial for players getting decent match fitness. We gave seen how a number of younger players have used good performance in the cup to get a call for the championship match day squad. So far from meaningless almost crucial. I agree this bunch of shitehawks sponsors have demeaned the competition with dodgy draws carried out at 3 a.m UK time. At least they haven't done this this year. But both cups now are the sole ownership of the top 6. Just look at the qtr final line-up. Maybe Everton might upset the domination...i hope so.

If it gets us into Europe then it's great. I don't get the hate for the new competition. From a supporter's point of view I get that a couple of days in Madrid with your mates to have a few beers and watch Stoke play Real or Atletico in the Champions League is the stuff of dreams. But the same trip to watch Stoke play Rayo Vallecano or Getafe is still a damn site better than an afternoon in Luton.

spurs fans seem to think its there year saying they have pulled the worst team left in the cup, maybe they are right but they are still not good enough to win it, miles behind man city man utd and arsenal,
