Excellent defensive performance but what pleased me most was the way we moved the ball and actually looked a proper passing team in the first half. We don’t need to bypass the midfield because we can play as well as anyone in the Championship. Seen it done !!!

Really would like to see him start 343 with this team against Brum. Obviously Fletcher for Vokes, the only question being does Clucas come in for Thompson? I'm not sure. Did you cash out? Yeah, only because I didn't want to jinx us.

From seemingly nowhere we have Collins, Souttar, Tymon, Thompson, TOB, Brown and Campbell all looking the part. MON’s tough love seems to have paid off.

It’s actually immensely satisfying seeing your centre halves play like that. Hope they keep it up. They were fantastic.

Yeah, only because I didn't want to jinx us. Fair enough. I stopped betting before it was much of a thing to be honest..

Villa 0 SCFC 2 stellar performances from Butland, saves everything and dominates his area, Ince who dances his way through the defence setting up both goals finished with aplomb by a resurgent and mobile Vokes .....if Carling did transfer window performances! 😁 ......ahem You're welcome 🤣🤪

I'd start Clucas, but for Mikel as another game so quickly may be too much for him right now, so Thommo sits instead - then Fletcher for Vokes and Smith for Brown. I think MON will find space for one or both of Batth and Chester, even though Souttar and Collins deserve to retain their places, and he may use Fox for Bruno and Jimmy Mac for Tymon. All of those would be hard on the kiddies after tonight.

What a difference a competent keeper makes, just reading the game and being aware of what's happening in front of him.

Brentford or Newcastle at home will do. I'd fancy us against either on them 🙂

The Good thing is a run like this early on gives out bloated squad a chance for many players instead of simmering without playing. Transfer Window around the corner should hopefully see more out and then only league games until December. Happy squad winning teams - lets hope we can get the balance of players ok so not too many disgruntled players. For now well done Stoke players and well done MON

Well done MON and the players they were organised everyone knew what they were doing but the biggest thing to me was the fitness levels. The fittest we have looked for years Without a doubt, been my biggest gripe over the last three seasons. The lack of fitness for a professional football club was embarrassing, MON has certainly addressed that problem.

The thing is MON has decided on a core way to play and both squads know how to play in it. That's a huge advantage for the squad size.
Tonight for the first time they not only started to enjoy it but they were able to react to Villa's changes 2nd half, he moved a couple of deck chairs around, matched them up and it still worked. Game management 2nd half without the ball was great. I think he wanted a platform to build on and it's paying dividends. 4 clean sheets away from home. Just starting to see how it can become expansive without leaving us open.
This is a real milestone for me I really think we've moved forward tonight.
I've got my football club back.

Collins, Souttar, BMI , had a great game and I even noticed Tymon played well, over all good performance. Vokes is a funny one, I am of the opinion he is a player that will always piss me off and looks a waste of space most of the time. But if he can score I don't really care. Fletcher looks the better player but maybe using one or the other as a sub is the way to go.

Simply awesome stoke that was. Mikel misplaced one pass in the whole game, he is getting better every game and with Thompson with him we retain possession much better
