I literally have no idea if it’s true or where this rumour started from but it is quite funny really, our Denise gave her the change from down the sofa and it is enough to run them for 10 years! I’m sure somebody will be along soon enough to debunk this myth! I have a few Vale friends who are local business men and they too are of the belief that she had a loan off Denise. Listening to Flitcroft on radio Stoke it seems to me he was interviewed for the managers job and talked his way into this DOF and reading between what he's saying he's having his cake and eating it, he basically is calling the the shots through out and if it goes tits up on the pitch it will down to the coach/manager while he sits back and takes the money! Of course it could all work out swimmingly! Doubtful. However I do think she has got other investment coming in. The one thing is, unlike Smurthwaite, she is popular throughout the City and other City based Businesses. Autonet for 1, who have done work around the Ground, have a box and have Sponsored 4 stands. Robbie Williams also seems to be more willing to get involved since Bratt and Smurthwaite left.

Does that mean Rudgey has finally retired then and his arse, finally, is no longer up for rent? i saw a bloke in Berlin taking a dump in an alleyway who was the image of John Rudge. Was a strange moment that i couldn't lose the image of. Kind of hope his arse wasn't up for rent after that but those who hung around Zoo Station at the time were a funny breed. Was either John Rudge or that policeman from 'Goodnight Sweetheart' but felt the urge to walk quicker for some reason and not observe .

Wikipedia: he was sacked in January 1999, and subsequently was appointed director of football at their rivals – Stoke City, a position he held until May 2013.

Sounds like a nice, solid choice! upthesaddlers.com/t/darrell-clarke-quits/5947/11Let’s hope it’s true. Done nothing but steal a wage and took club no where. I'm not that fussed either way. I can’t see us making any progress under him, the football is tat, and there’s no underpinning style or philosophy that can be discerned after nearly two season’s worth of games, two pre-seasons and four transfer windows. Happy to drive him there There will be no tears from me. Another club has seen his recent work and thought “he’s our man”? Struggling with that idea. It hasn’t worked. End of. Too interested in nulling the opposition rather than setting us up to cause others problems. Was excited by his appointment but have been bored silly ever since.

What sort of income would a 'Director of Football' expect to pull down in the 4th flight of English football? And would it be more or less than the coach/manager they will appoint to work alongside him? Just genuinely curious. I reckon that's he'd be on c£100k

So more than the manager and with less chance of getting sacked? Wise choice. How do you know what the manager is on?? I read somewhere the last manager was on around £50k. No idea how accurate that is, and can’t remember where I read it. Could’ve been on here. I believe the average player wage in League 2 is under £50k so it would make sense that the manager wasn’t on double that.

Might be wrong but that feels low! There’s a few recent articles knocking about that show the disparity of pay across the Champo down to L2. The gulf is huge. Definitely under £50k avg for a League 2 player. I think it said the highest L2 manager was paid £110k. If I get the time I’ll try to find it again to share the link.
