It should be Thompson going on loan not him. From what I saw last season of him he’s good enough to fight his place Thompson is better than Sorensen currently though (although not much better), a loan move gives Sorensen a year of hopefully first team football whereas he would be behind Clucas, Allen, and Thompson otherwise. Good move all round

i'd like to have seen more of him.
my main fear is that i can't remember anyone going on loan out of stoke, then coming back into the 1st team

Very much a step backwards...and if he cant get a look in because Allen returns, then how is his chance going to be better a year on.... Because he might be a better player by then, courtesy of his loan spell Manager may have more confidence in him if his loan spell is successful That kind of thing How does an international and cl player get to be better by joining a lower league club?

He's not a full international Anyway the point is best better off playing 30+ games 1 rung down then 7 or 8 starts here. Campbell loan at Salop did him the world of good Souttar has benefited by starting for Fleetwood E.t.c

He’s not a kid, he should be challenging for a first team role Which he will do after a successful loan spell Not if MON follows his pattern, based on the example of one, of signing loanees to a full contract. Then a year on, Mikel and Allen plus whoever he may sign in the mean time, will stand in his way and he will sold for a nominal fee or released on a free. is Souttar closer to a first team place after a number ofloan periods? Hardly.

What happens if (big if) we get promoted this year? Will he be good enough for a start in the PL? He should be starting games in the Championship.

Nonsense, ONeill has played Campbell regularly But he is not his preferred main striker. Vokes was and now,when/if fit, Edwards will be. Afobe is third choice. Only if Ince is poorly, does he get a chance on the right. What if Ince keeps his rich vein of preseason form? Then it’s even further down the ladder. And yet Campbell is the better player of them all. Heshould be first choice period.

Very promising highlights there. This loan spell can only be a good thing.
