Richard Jolly @richjolly If Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting plays in the next round, it will mean the relegated Stoke squad of 2017-18 had players who played in the 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019 & 2020 Champions League semi-finals.

The state of the replies to this, “could he do it on a cold wet Tuesday in Stoke’ just shows that most of the ignorant parasite cunts following the champions league haven’t got a fucking clue about anything other than the elite.
BM
Edit. Which is why I make it my business to know fuck all about their clubs.

Shoddy research , looks like Johnson played in 2004 as well

BristolMick I imagine Lineker's Tweet was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Richard Jolly stat and the fact that Choupo-Moting most likely didn't do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke, when he was at Stoke. Much of the media don't seem to have a clue outside of the elite, but I don't think Lineker is one of those people.

Looking at the 2004 semi, the crying shame is one player who could have made a massive difference to us staying up played in that, but had been shipped out

I read your reply as being about Lineker's reply to the semi-final stat, rather than the replies to Lineker's Tweet. Some of those replies are pretty funny, like the one saying it shows the gentrification of Stoke's team. They must think we're still in the Premier League, as that kind of "gentrification" certainly hasn't been happening for a while.

What a talent we have for buying players who are basically spent or turning them shit! (Crouch excluded).
I can only think of Arnautovic recently whose career went the other way with us. Possibly Nzonzi too?
Ok, Shaq joined Lpool and got the medals but surely no-one would say he's a major part of the squad.

This is more like him - possibly the greatest (worsest?) miss of all time.
Enjoy.

I'd wager PSG will be cheering Leipzig on tonight because Atletico would be a nightmare opponent for them in the Semis. Quite frankly, it's odd how they've seemingly been written off as having no chance of winning the tournament.
Atletico v Bayern final is my prediction.

PSG would do well not to take Leipzig for granted. If they were troubled by Atalanta, and they clearly were, they could be in for a rude surprise by the East German attacking style. Quite frankly, it's odd how they've seemingly been written off as having no chance of winning the tournament. Although they would probably wish to avoid Bayern in the final.

I almost missed the smiley there, the chasm between Gudjohnsen (Stoke version), and Huth's ability to make a difference is epic.

He must feel great. This was probably going to be his PSG legacy in most people's eyes, but has now been erased!
Is there space for a thread about bang average footballers who've gone down in club folklore for 1 thing? (E.g. Souleymane Oularé)
Edit: Actually, I'll check

Leipzig's no.5 looks like a good CB.
Good player for the centre of a back 3.
