I’m not sure what you mean by that last bit sorry? If I understand the video footage, she is asked a question to which she replies I'm a member of parliament. Your response was that she considers that makes it more important. You can't know that. You have decided that's the case. Again, it's just your opinion. She wasn’t asked what she does for a living though was she. She just interrupted a police officer yet again with the words “I’m a member of Parliament”.

If you look at it, I think she is responding to a question from a female police officer who is not shown in the video. Probably asking what she does for a living, but that is just my opinion(!) because the actual question isn't heard. However, the tone of the reply is that of an answer to a question. To which the female copper then says "yeah".

I would suggest the police lady was intimidated by her ignorance. I’ve watched it many times. She is in the middle of saying something before being cut off by a person with an agenda and camera. Tell me what she allows the police to say in that entire video? That’s why we need the body cam footage.

I know the fed are pushing for it to be released.

I agree that the bodycam footage would help and I see no reason why the police don't release it. I think the female copper is engaged in a conversation with Butler which may be about where she lives etc which has been understandably edited out. The final bit from the female copper is probably "what do you do for a living?" to which she answers "I'm a member of parliament" and the female copper goes "yeah". Again, that's just my opinion of the interaction. Yours is obviously different, but that highlights the difference in our thinking generally.

Now I’m not saying I don’t care about the states but my priority is the U.K. Our Police aren’t anything like the ones in the States. Look at all the black on black murders in the last month in London if the Police are scared of stopping black people because they’re fearful of getting videoed and put on national TV more blood will be spilt. The Met need to be allowed to do their job and if saving a number of black lives at the cost of upsetting a few people then it’s a cheap price to pay or at least that’s how it should be but at the moment it isn’t. The point about the states is that those people campaigning for equal rights in the civil rights movement of the 50s and 60s were also labelled agitators (shit-stirrers if you want to call them that) and many white people just wished they'd shut up and put up. From the responses on here I'm seeing the same sentiments.
Absolutely right about saving lives. And if the police are doing their job correctly without prejudice they have nothing to fear about being filmed, regardless of what is alleged. In this case they have apologised, not the MP, so until some further evidence emerges to discredit what Butler said and back up the Police version, that's the way it is and everything else is just opinion. Like Malcolm X who proclaimed that no black women should date white men and was against integration. Strange are statues of him untouched

Yep, fair enough, badger, time for a beer.
In the absence of thevoid ruining another thread with his endless "trying to trigger people to fuck", I thank you for a sensible discussion, free of the usual nonsense.

Likewise MLK had some extremely dodgy views about women's role in society. However, that doesn't eradicate entirely their advancement of black rights. Off for a beer...

Not if it’s an active investigation / complaint. Not sure about the case with Dawn Butler. My take on that is if she can do it to make the Met look bad why shouldn’t they be able to give their side.

By someone you glibly refer to as 'the athlete'. You mean the lady who was hand cuffed and received a full apology from the Met after an incident they have referred themselves to the IOPC over? An incident that revealed hand cuffing had increased by 500% in the past 3 years in London and that 35% of all persons handcuffed are black? The lady whose was entirely innocent and whose baby son witnessed the entire over the top incident? That 'athlete'? That’s the one yes. Again I don’t think both sides have been heard yet but I think you’ll find that a lot of the Met Police weren’t happy with the “apology.” I think what you will find is that the apology was made because she was upset not because of the way the officers dealt with the incident. I'm sensing a very definite theme here.

Not allowed to release it but the commissioner is very keen to do so in his own words which speaks volumes and pressing for it to go public. Obviously a reason why

I'm sensing a very definite theme here. Explain? You seem to see all incidents as the Police being fully justified regardless in the wide variety of scenarios. As for black people you know feeling embarrassed at the dignified way Bianca Williams and her partner handled the situation, whilst she was clearly terrified and distressed for her child and talking about the amount of times they've been stopped in the past and one day knowing they're going to have explain to their kid that this is going to be the normal for him because of the colour of his skin. I simply don't believe you.

Go on read through it, you and the gang truly are delusional. Although it is classic right wing bully boy technique that you engage in. Textbook.
