I know it’s not (totally) Greek - although half the island see themselves as Greek culturally - but I would add Cyprus to the list of friendly, affordable, sun-kissed islands for Brits.

Went to one of those places early 90s Ely, spent a night on Ouzo and water and remember getting up the next day walking down to the beach and taking a swig of water... And seemed to remember feeling pissed again within minutes😊 If you went to one you went to both mate, different name for the same place, bloody shit myself when I got on the plane at Manchester and didn't know sorry mate I did know they are both the same.... my humour didn't quite make it from my head to keyboard😊

Ikaria. No classic beaches but great inland hiking and thermal baths

Agree, I was in Paphos in March when they locked down and kicked the tourists out (couple of weeks before the UK locked down)

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS LIFTED for UK flights.
Have just read that the Greek Gov have now removed the restrictions and flights from the UK are allowed😀
A registration form with destination and contact details MUST be completed on line and printed off prior to departure. They MAY ? Make random Covid tests on arrival at a cost of 60 euro and you will be require to self isolate for 24hrs until results received.
All good news. Very hot this time of year so I fly out end of August.

Not a Greek island I know, but has anyone been to Dubrovnik? Thinking about it for a week. Too long? Enough to do? Expensive? Over-run with tourists?
Thanks

Dubrovnik brilliant for a couple of days, magnificent medieval city and there are 1 or 2 beaches, we stayed an hour or two down the coastline and over the border into Montenegro .... great .... and did a day trip to Dubrovnik plus a day trip on a boat through the fjords 👍🏻👍🏻

Rhodes for me, specifically Lindos, pefkos and the surrounding areas.
Supping mythos and eating gyros overlooking St Pauls bay in Lindos is pretty much as good as it gets.

A week is probably too long in Dubrovnik, or if using it as a base inland to Mostar in Bosnia, try moving around up the coast, Split or into Slovenia to Piran as a two centre holiday ?

Thanks I went to Dubrovnik for a week a few years ago. Went there for a wedding. Beautiful medieval city, if you’re a game of thrones fan most of it was shot there. I think a week was abit too long in all honesty as it is quite expensive, especially compared to the rest of the Croatia. Certainly recommend it for a long weekend though. We stayed in the old town area in an air bnb, a word of warning, the roads in this area are VERY steep and there’s a lot of steps to climb!

They will certainly look after you👌 We used to stay in Agia Palagia just 45 mins along the coast and loved it. I don't think you will go far wrong👍

Booked up for Crete yesterday, flying on Tuesday. Any recommendations? Crete is quite a big island so it depends which part you're going to. I don't know the eastern side so well, but Chania on the west is beautiful, the old Minoan site at Knossos is well worth a visit (get there early and its not too touristy, although shouldn't be too bad this year sadly); Rethymno is ok and Lake Kournas is stunning for a chilled out day trip. If you're into walking and scenery a drive through the mountains is worthwhile to try the Samaria gorge walk or just chill out in any of the smaller, less touristy villages on the south coast. Crete is a great place, have a good break.

Booked 4 nights in Balion near Rethymno for a bit of 5 star chilling out, so will visit Rethymno and maybe Chania and then onto Stalis for something a bit more livelier. Lots and lots of covid procedures in place from disinfected the sundbeds every time a person gets up from one to certain things being closed/not operating, plus random testing at the airport and a track and trace system in place.

Very nice. Lake Kourna is well worth a visit on your way to/back from Chania. Nice few tavernas around the lake edge I seem to remember.

My dad went to Crete on a Gov assisted visit. Had to go into Lockdown for some time.
The Germans helped out and put him up in digs in Poland for 4/5 years. It was in 1942/3.
