Literally just looked at his name at the top of the board for about five minutes thinking "I know I should know who that is" but couldn't for the life of me place him.

Another odd episode on so many fronts. None so odder than the people who obsessed with him after he left after he did fuck all for us bar be shite and his departure allowed a better talent game time.

Most clubs down here use their loan slots on players like Morgan Gibbs-White, Connor Gallagher, Rhian Brewster etc. Last season, we spent ours on Scott fucking Hogan and Mark Duffy (who?). Just how bad was Mad Nathan?

Just how bad was Mad Nathan? Duffy had a good few previous seasons and seemed a good signing. The fact he's now in League One might say a lot. I can't remember the last time we had a successful loan player. Victor Moses? I suppose BMI was a success in his loan season, but the successes seem to be the exception in recent years. Pulis used loans to great effect in the Championship, so I'm hoping we pull something good out of the bag. A top-quality loan signing could be the difference between playoffs/no playoffs or even promotion or not.

I’d never heard of Duffy and the Sheffield United fans seemed to love him which was encouraging but why make a loan signing for a position you’ve just signed someone for and we could/should have kept Bojan. Just mad.

Moses, BMI and Assaidi off the top of my head in recent years. We've chronically underused them in the Champo to our own detriment.

And we've got another month before the transfer window shuts. :/ I didn't think Assaidi was that great, but he could've been considered a moderate success given those goals in his first season.

Certainly went off the boil in his second loan season. In fairness, my view on him probably is skewed because of the goal vs Chelsea.

Curious piece of trivia, but Hogan's former club, Brentford, haven't had a loanee play so much as 1 minute for them during the last 3 seasons.
As you were.

Signed for Brum on a permanent deal. Meh A 4-year deal, no less. Don't see many of them in the Champo. One of many odd signings. Dunno who turned out stranger - him or Mark Duffy. Or 2.5 on Lindsay Or 4 on Smith Or Ward Or Cousins I could go on.......

To be fair, on occasion, him and Gregory seemed a decent pairing. Nath seeming to pick his system and personnel out of a hat didn't help.

Our use of the loan market has been criminal, particularly since relegation where in this league the difference between promotion and relegation can often be top class loan signings.

The best games he had for us were when he played alongside Gregory. If you could combine them together with Gregory's workrate and Hogan's finishing you'd have a half decent striker on your hands.

Smith is good I think (except when he isn't...) But £4m was way over the top.
