Division 1 & 2 chose to curtail the season early due to the crippling cost per game without crowds. With the prospect of the new season games being played with at best 30% capacity crowds can clubs outside the Premier League and indeed some in where finances are tight and clubs already outspend their income avoid going the way of Bury. As we are better positioned financially than most at the moment as clubs fold is this our only way back to the top division as clubs around us fold?

I think it was the Huddersfield chairmen saying the other week around 50% of the championship clubs are the verge of going under.

Would be a sad day to see clubs fold (with a couple of notable exceptions) for us to rise back to the top table. Would rather get there through building a promotion winning side which would give us all something to cheer about.

A question for those who would have more knowledge on this than me. Bear with me as I’m not too savvy on how all this could play out. So if anyone can tell me if I’m on the right lines or not that’d be great.
If we do have a large number of clubs folding, as Hudders chairman reckons around 50% in championship are on the verge, and no doubt league 1,2 and Conference will be in severe danger, does it mean the league system could go to a regionalised league system instead? E.g. Division 1 North, Division 1 South etc... Effectively Semi-Pro football depending how many clubs actually survive?
It would be financially disastrous surely. There is a chance that should we go down this could be us playing in Div 1 or 2 North in the near future?
Premiership Div 1 North and South - One up from both and a play off Div 2 North and South - One up from both and a play off Div 3 North and South - One up from both and a play off
And then however the conference system will work.
There’d have to be a reshuffling as there wouldn’t be enough teams to fill out the current divisions should a lot go bump? I’m just trying to imagine how much football could change in this country if a lot of teams go to the wire.

Surely the furlough scheme has to continue for all those businesses that are banned from trading by the government.
If the theatres are being given a bail out to keep them going, why are football clubs any different?

I think it was the Huddersfield chairmen saying the other week around 50% of the championship clubs are the verge of going under. If true (and we stay up which is too close to call) we would be in a league of 12 - no doubt 12th! We are cursed
