His performance last night was one of them ones where an aging player realises that their legs are long gone and they retire at half time. It wasn't just one tricky winger that had the beating of him either, which is forgivable for a fullback at our level every now and then, about 4 players dribbled past him with ease at various stages. And sometimes they didn't have to dribble past him because he inexplicably wasn't there, like for their first goal. Never seen so many unchallenged sidefoot passes into the area. All from his position. Every time he’s played for us though that’s been the case. Only a lunatic would have used him. |

I can understand that players coming to end (he is well past the end) are going to slow down and fitness may decline but jesus the bloke has played internationally and he was making basic errors, like being out of position, being in a bad position when 1 v 1 defending, blaiming other players - as soon as he is caught out his arms shoot up to blame somebody else. Reckless defending, diving in to challenges, he must have been beat every time a player ran at him.

What happened was we were sold the Luton model and we fell for it. Rampaging full backs , fast up and at em approach. Tom Edwards ( who ? ) an absolutely crucial player along with maybe the much touted Justin on the opposite side. Instead we signed Tommy Smith and Stephen Ward players that are the complete opposite of what we were being told. Now we mess and meddle all the time. We have tried 4 centre halves at the back and then ageing full backs suddenly appear back in the team. Jones started all this shit but I don't think the constant tinkering by O'Neill is doing any good either. Two hideous signings were Smith and Ward |
