You've probably never heard of Jack Leslie. Neither had I until a few weeks ago, when the FSA was contacted by a group of Plymouth fans who are trying to raise money to erect a statue of him outside Home Park. He was a Plymouth player who was selected to play for England nearly 100 years ago. But when the FA powers that be found out he was black, he was dropped from the team. Unbelievable - or maybe not given that it was a century ago. I put the Plymouth guys in touch with the FA, who to their credit, are sponsoring the campaign. It is interesting to reflect that it took a further 53 years before Viv Anderson became the first black player to play for England.

For a terrible moment there I read that as John Leslie!
Though I'm not sure how revising history actually does a thing to improve the present.

Could BLM sock them a few quid?

And somehow better than pulling them dkwn. (He said rather mischeviously!)
