I've no idea whether it's too soon to start a match thread but whatever.
It felt for weeks like we'd never see another football match played. Thank god its finally back.
Hoping MON has a speedy recovery from the virus and has a healthy return to work very soon, delivering some of the types of outstanding performances we saw pre-'Rona.
What team would you go for against Reading? I've no idea who is and isn't fit but it would be hard to change too much from that Hull performance in March...
Butland Smith Shawcross Chester Indi Bauer Clucas Thompson McClean Powell Campbell
Not a fan at all of Indy at left back but the options are still painfully limited. He won't play Bauer instead of Ince but I'd like to see it given a try until we can bring in a new right winger in the summer (desperately needed). Other than that, hard to see him not playing a fully fit Shawcross and McClean.

Just wonder if Ince might perform better with no crowd pressure?

Just wonder if Ince might perform better with no crowd pressure? Possibly. In reality I'm sure playing Ince will be the decision he will go with. But I'm very much in the "we love Bauer camp". Been very unimpressed with Ince since he signed for us as the majority of fans have. Assume Verlinden still out?

I know I am stating the obvious but this is a very important game for us. A win we don’t climb up the table but would create a great confidence build and a equally important improvement in goal difference, and hopefully widen the gap away from the bottom three.
After this enforced break anything can, and probably will, happen. Prepare for a roller coaster of emotions and anxiety.
A loss would bring us perilously close to the drop zone. I must admit to feeling nervous.

Might see what type of team we will put out after the friendly today. Or it'll be a fitness gaining exercise

Reading nothing to play for but Bowen will probably see this game as sticking two fingers up to Coates & scholes making it a tricky fixture.

Something like playing Delilah in the dressing room with the crowd singing, would help. Give some atmosphere. Charlie might be playing, as well.

Other than that, hard to see him not playing a fully fit Shawcross and McClean. It'd be crazy to bring in a new right winger, when we've got Thibo coming back later this year. We could sign someone on loan for a few months and get rid of Ince and Bauer all at once, but the position is Belgian for years to come. If we block Thibo's path he will find his position with another club and it won't be Bolton...

Thus we do need a new right winger. Ince is not going to be a long term answer. Or a short term answer for that matter

It's impossible to predict isn't it?
Pre-lockdown I would've gone for a Stoke win. Now though? Can't predict it.
It's a shame that MO'N's out but if there was any time for him to be out, I'd want it now. First game back is always who can last the longest rather than a game of tactics.
Team I'd go for: Butland; Smith, Batth*, Chester, Bruno; Clucas, Thompson; Ince, Powell, McClean; Campbell.
*is Ryan back?
Good luck to McKinlay!

Just wonder if Ince might perform better with no crowd pressure? Or vise versa...... With no crowd pressure, he could revert to his old self??? Hope not, hope your version's the one!!! 👍🏼

Had 2 shit seasons under 2 shit managers, worth another chance. We all know he had a big fall out Rowett following the training ground comments so that was always going to be write off. Still a good age and hardly like we are a squad full of good wingers/wing backs.

I’d go with the rest of your team other than I think Cousins will play as opposed Thompson for his defensive qualities.

Knowing how shit we are after any break and being such slow starters, I’d be happy with a point.

Knowing how shit we are after any break and being such slow starters, I’d be happy with a point. It's all just speculation and guesswork,I know but during our last handful of games we developed a degree of confidence and understanding that saw us play a good level of football which resulted in some free flowing play and more goals per game than we have scored for a very long time. Furthermore, the lay off has given us the opportunity to bring back two players, in Shawcross and McLean, who will enhance the squad considerably. Nothing has happened to diminish that positive outlook we have built up and I expect that we will pick up where we left off. Those teams below us have much more to fear than ourselves and they have had plenty of time to reflect on their predicament. They will be far more concerned than we are and you can add that a number of our opponents in the lower half seem set to be losing players they had on loan while we will go in with a group of players who will be much more familiar with the colleagues they are playing with. I'm quite confident that we'll be ok.
