What else do we judge him on then mate? No one will disagree he's made mistakes with team selection and tactics but where we were and where we finished I think he's earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt. We need to shift some dead wood out and bring in some fresh blood and hopefully we'll be pushing top six rather than bottom six. We can judge him on his signings like I'm doing Anyway so far the signs look good, Fletcher and Brunt, just what we need But fingers crossed, if he gets us pushing top 6 I'll be amazed, not because I don't rate him but down to the hand tieing the Rowett spend has done for all that followed. January transfer window is a complete waste of time - you can't possibly judge anyone on what they do then - it's desperate. This summer transfer window is going to be weird - so again making judgements is going to be a bit iffy. If you are going to judge at least base it on next summer's transfer window.

If most of the youngsters nowadays need to go out on loan to lower league clubs, to learn mens football for example coping with bumps and bruises, is it any wonder that experienced players are preferred. I’m with you Mrs Fletcher 😎

Some sources up north are saying that Celtic only offered him a pay as you play deal which obviously put him off! Red or Brown don’t drip on the fence 😎

West Ham striker Albian Ajeti is close to agreeing terms with Celtic on a loan deal.
Hoops boss Neil Lennon held further talks with the player’s agent last night. The move was in doubt after the 23-year-old asked for more time to consider his options, while on holiday in Sardinia.
But Sky Sports News understands the intervention by Lennon has convinced Ajeti to choose Celtic, after a host of Premier League and European clubs were interested in the Swiss international.
If talks continue to progress, the deal could be completed by early next week, and it is believed it includes an option to buy at the end of the loan, for a fee of around £5m.

If the guy who saved our club's sorry arses this season thinks he will improve us then that makes it OK with me. He's more than a judge of a player than any of us on here. 33 may seem old but if he's looked after himself I bet he's in better shape than a few quite a bit younger than him who MON seemed to hint had let themselves and the club down after lockdown. Christiano Ronaldo is 35, Zlatan Ibrahimović is nearly 39, they can still cut it at their level, whose to say Fletcher can't still cut it at his level if he's looked after his body. They are both world class players throughout there careers where as Fletch is ermmm economy class That's why I wrote 'their level' and 'his level'

Is he because his signings so far have been pretty shit on the whole. Didn't quite understand the English Whatever people think of his signings they helped us go from rock bottom relegation form to about 7th in the league form, he managed to persuade Campbell to stay by playing him and getting him scoring goals, like a new signing, he even got Vokes looking like a different person

How can you say his transfer record has been poor?. A youngster, a stab on a League one player & a very respected centre half. The league one player hasn't been good enough or what we needed, Chester has been poor on the whole (originally thought he was okay) and its too soon to comment on Boothe really, can only go off these three so not really a big group to choose from but I'd say its poor so far, it could completely change but I'm just commenting on what we've seen up to now. Chester still did fine enough over the course of his time here. He wasn’t the rock I had hoped he would be. He had a few awful games. He still performed better than what we had available (Carter-Vickers and Lindsay) maybe with the exception of Collins. If we sign him this summer on a free, I wouldn’t be too upset. Maybe a preseason is what he needs. Hadn’t played for an age through injury, comes straight into a relegation dogfight and has to form a partnership with a defence in tatters. On his current form, I wouldn’t want him as a regular if we want to go for promotion, but I’d rather him over Lindsay! Free transfers and loans seem the most likely deals for this summer.

Interesting.
Doesn't seem like we're after a striker then.
I think that's the right call.
Other priorities.

The club has had plenty of shit from fans because of a poor Jan window, its not suddenly differenty now. But I agree it is going to be a strange window. I'll base it on everything, and so far pre the Fox signing they have been poor. Fox is a positive step, at least he's a left back thats not in his mid 30's.

Random person from Hampshire who hasn't tweeted for 6 months just out of the blue asking for the odds on Fletcher joining Stoke?
Bit odd as there haven't been any new links, but obviously could be nothing.
Certainly doesn't look like he's going to Celtic though.

Gregory on his way out then?. I'd say Fletcher is more of a competition for Vokes in terms of playstyle

For anyone on the fence and not a hardcore Fletchista (yet)! www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/barry-bannans-celtic-no-brainer-22463279“ Steven is one of the best strikers I’ve ever played with. He’s one of those players who, until you actually play alongside him, you don’t understand how good he is.
“I thought before that with all the headed goals he scores, he was just a big striker type, but you play alongside him and realise he’s nothing like that.
“His ability with his feet is second to none and he is really the all-round striker.
“It’s no-brainer to sign Fletch. The way the world is at the minute with the pandemic you’re not going to be able to spend really big money no matter what club you are because of the damage caused by no games or crowds.
“So when you have a player as good as him available on a free transfer it seems obvious to me.
“Last season and a half he was unbelievable. We were third at Christmas last season and ended up dropping down the table after he got injured. That was a big part of why we fell away. We missed him.
“It’s not just his ability, it’s his approach off the park. His diet and work off the park make him a model professional. He’s in the gym two and three times a day.
“That’s probably why he’s reaping the rewards and I know from speaking with him that was the fittest he’s been and the most games he’s played in a season for a while during last year.
“The injury in January was unfortunate but the way he looks after himself now is brilliant and so is the way he is around the training ground.
“Steven is a good personality to have around and his professionalism rubbed off on to many of the other boys within the squad.
“He got a gym group together. A lot of the boys looked up to Fletch with the career that he’s had. You could see them thinking, ‘If it’s good enough for him it’ll be good enough for us’.
“It was a shame we couldn’t keep him because I’d have said he was one of the best in the Championship last season.”

I would say Gregory the one to leave. Would rather keep Vokes and a decent right sided winger and he will do ok
