Until I saw the first post, I genuinely couldn't remember half the squad. for when/if we finish the season Adam Federici - let him go James Chester - let him go Stephen Ward - let him go Bruno - sell Tashan Oakley-Booth - What position does he play again? Jordan Thompson - is he ours? where does he play? Thibaud Verlinden - play on the right Tom Ince - sell Sam Vokes - sell Mame Diouf - regretably I'd let him go. I feel we've messed him around, and he's been such a positive for the club. I hope he can get a fresh start somewhere Lee Gregory - sell Out on loan Badou Ndiaye - sell or make him play. No more pointless loans Benike Afobe - genuinely don't know. Can't see him happy being back here. Possibly sell. Peter Etebo - sell or make him play. No more pointless loans Ryan Woods - sell Kevin Wimmer - get rid Mauritz Bauer - sellHarry Souttar - back in the squad if we lose chester. Sell Mauritz Bauer!!!! That's almost the definition of unrealistic optimism. He must have 3 years remaining of a lucrative contract. And he can't cut the mustard in Scotland - where he was probably the highest paid player at his loan club.

Tyrese is better already. Waste of money. Bad attitude and just after a payday , injury prone..wait a minute, he ticks all the pre O'Neill criteria.

I think there will be a psychological aspect to this season now
I wouldn't be surprised if at least two of the current bottom three stay up
Those teams will see this as a second chance, a redemption, a chance to pull away when potentially dead and buried.
Whereas the teams that were a little bit clear, like us, but still involved, may have thought the season would be over and might feel disappointed its being kickstarted again.
We shall see. But I have just looked at our line up on OP and I tell you what, we haven't got a bad squad have we?

Think about it. We will lose Diouf after his contract expires, will probably lose Afobe and Gregory also. Taylor has scored 11 in 22 appearances (1 in 2) in a struggling side this season. That's light years ahead of any of our forwards in terms of goals per game. The downside is his age but on a free at this level he could be a really shrewd signing.

‘Shrewd signing’!! Exactly the same was said about Gregory last year and look where he’s heading after less than 12 months! Tyrese is better already. Waste of money. Different types of players though aren't they? Gregory has always been a bits and pieces grafter who was brought in originally to do the leg work for Powell and A N Other in the diamond, with goals coming second. At the end of the day it's all about opinions and my opinion is that Taylor would be a shrewd signing for free. A lot of fans are going to be disappointed with our business going forward and frankly, they need to sit down and get used to the fact we are no longer able to shop at Waitrose and look at what we are able to do and how best to get the most out of what we can spend. FFP and the Rowett spend has crippled us and the spectre of a wage cap post coronavirus that has been mooted will knock us down further. We have young players in and around the side in Oakley-Boothe, Thompson, Edwards, Verlinden, Collins and Campbell and it is a wise move to surround them with the right quality and profile of experienced player along with boosting the ranks with younger players as we go. For all we know though, this could be paper talk and the wrist wringing will be for nothing. If not and it is true do you trust our manager to bring in the right kind of players? No manager gets every signing right but if he gets more right than wrong he's stole a march on a number of our previous managers hasn't he? The first three that he's signed have a hit rate of two hit and one miss for me. Carry that on and he'll do just fine.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned in this thread but don't players have to be in the designated 25 man squad in January in order to play in the first team. If this is the case does it not rule out returning loan players?

However, other than emergency loans for goalkeepers, they have to be registered at the club during the transfer window periods. Surprisingly (considering the summer and winter transfer windows), the following regulation is still in place in the EFL "43.3 Where any new registration or transfer of a Player is received by The League after 5pm on the fourth Thursday in March in each Season, that Player will not be eligible to play in any match organised by The League in that Season, except as permitted in Regulation 57 (emergency goalkeeper loan)"

Free , but sign on fee, contract term and wages will be high so age and injuries are key part of decision. A high % of his goals are penalties, often from his diving. Saw quite a lot of charlton the last 3 yrs as local. A striker to get us out of the championship and then push us on in the PL he is not.

I think if the season restarts a lot of games will be decided by fitness levels, I think we are probably as fit if not fitter than most. Cousins and Sorenson are posting some impressive stats, think Sorenson may figure prominently when we kick off again.
