A good and lively debate on The Queen thread, with varying opinions from lovers or haters.
One of my all time faves are Pink Floyd.
Not massively into the psychodelic stuff, but once David Gilmour came in they were awesome.
Saw Roger Waters Us and Them film the other night...IT IS BLOODY SUPERB.
Gilmour was by far the better song writer and musician, but by god Waters can't half put on a visual masterpiece.
And here is the whole film.....Sound up...Lights off....ENJOY...

Waters' angst and Gilmour's ear for the right notes and spaces between them combining to spine-tingling effect on this track.

Yes it may be before my era but I love Pink Floyd.
Dark Side Of The Moon is probably my second favourite album ever. And the song us and them as mentioned is one of my favourite songs ever.
The wall was very spectacular aswell.
David Gilmour for me is one of the greatest guitarists ever to be around.
Dark Side completely transformed a style of music. Some of the lyrics in some of the songs are crazy but that's what makes that particular album so special in my opinion.
What a shame they never played Glastonbury.

I never ‘got’ Pink Floyd and haven’t listened to anything by them for many, many years. Perhaps I should give them another go.

One of the greatest songs ever written.
Let’s be honest, everyone has that one person they wish was here.
One of my favourite Floyd songs...so beautiful.

They're definitely a band you appreciate when you get older. Decided to give DSOTM a listen on a long flight a few years ago and they won me over. I'd love to see a film biopic about Syd Barrett.

One of my favourites...If you have time look at the video I posted in the OP...The cinema version didn't include 2 encores....Comfortably Numb & Mother...Mother is just spine tingling.

I love Meddle and Dark Side of the Moon, I quite liked Wish You Were Here, but packed up the Floyd when they lost me with The Wall and Animals which I didn't really like at all.

I like some of the early psychedelic stuff, then Meddle /Obscured by Clouds/ DSOTM are my favourites. WYWH I like, but no great fan of Animals. The Wall makes for a great live show and the film is decent, but as an album I find it unlistenable.

There’s been talk of a Syd biopic with John Depp playing him. There’s also been talk of a band biopic. Unlikely to come to much.

Is sounds like the summer to me...

Was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd on the Pulse tour at Earls Court back in the 90's......one word - WOW !!
Love my Floyd I do
Went to see Roger Waters in July and Brit Floyd last October at the Ziggodome here in the Dam and were also very good with a near carbon copy of special effects
Ive seen more bands than I care to remember, so Im very picky nowadays as to who I go and see BUT (and its a BIG but), if they ever did one last hurrah an went on the road, I would pay serious dollars to see them…… VIP tickets, meet and greet - the lot
Also went to Dave Gilmours house on the island of Rhodes when I worked there in 1990.... he wasnt there though…..
WHAT A HOUSE !!!!

Maybe That still makes them vastly superior to Queen Queen had their moments - some cracking tunes to be fair - but, FM aside, as dull a bunch as you can imagine. Unless... you bring Pink Floyd into the mix. The Kings of Dullness.

WHAT A HOUSE !!!! How come you went Gilmours house? Did you go inside? I was working at a bar called Bazouka Taverna in Lindos at the time...… The bar owner was a bloke called Kyriakos and unbeknown to us, Gilmour left a set of keys at the bar so Kyriakos could keep an eye on his gaff. Anyway, we all rocked up for work on morning and the bar owner in his best ENglish says "we dont work today, you come with me" Me, and me two mates look at each other and say "fair play OK". We get in the sand dune buggy and head off up into the hills and 20 minutes later he pulls up at this mahoosive house up on the ridge of a valley. He opens the front door and we walk into the reception hall.....all marble, and the best way I can describe it is where you have the scene in Titanic where De Caprio is standing at the top of the wooden staircase waiting for Winslett - its that type of sweeping double staircase, but all white marble. Two reception rooms left and right. He takes us into the reception room on the right and there dozens and dozens of records on the wall. Inset into the wall were these huuuuuuuge stereo speakers with independent volumes on them so they were flush to the wall - literally like Marshall stacks they were - fuckin huge. One side of the house was made up of black vertical blinds - right weird they were but Kyriakos explained that they face outwards in the day attracting the heat and then at the push of a button the whole wall rotates 180 to face inwards and the heat goes into the room......never saw it work though. Its strange and also fortunate things like this that you look back on and enjoy !
