Allen has been superb since MON took over, the problem before was the midfield was too congested, you had Woods at the base, Allen and Clucas in close proximity and Ince at the tip Now O’Neil plays a formation that suits Allen, Clucas and the rest of the team No changes for me. Quite happy with our starting xi that put stuck 5 past Hull and can’t understand why you would change that

I would still look for a 'proper' left back, and a right winger...

Only 2?
Collins in for Chester.
Federici for Butland.
When it comes to a new season I think we need the following:
Starting Goalkeeper
Left back Centre back if Indi goes
A proper DM
A quick winger
A targetman

Well done timehascome
I believe this is your first thread without Hughes, Coates, Pulis or European managers not being mentioned in the title or the OP.

To bring in a decent left back must be the priority more than anything! I would also like to see a winger brought in, who could be competition for both our wingers. The problem is though that a lot of players will come back from loan spells, and if we can't offload most of them, I really can't see we will have much to spend due to FFP. I really don't know much about our finances, but we are frequently being mentioned when the FFP subject is brought up.

With a decent manager in we’re in a lot better place than we were and we’re nowhere near as our early season form suggested. For me I’d look at
.......................new.................. Smith.....Collins.....Ryan...new ....................Cousins............... ............Allen...........Clucas...... ......................Powell................ ..........Campbell......Vokes........

For me the absolute essential is a mobile left back who can cross and tackle.
I have been saying we need a destructive DM for a while but actually seeing the way that Thompson has taken up a deep lying playmaker role in that space I am quite content. he has the range of passing that Woods lacks and nearly always looks to pass forward so he does inject attacking momentum for us. Happy with the 4-1-2-2-1 and question mark then is do we replace Powell out wide left ( he looks like he is settling into the role and is developing a really good understanding with Campbell ) when James is back fit? Or maybe we just switch Powell for Ince on the right?? .........….anyway, yes LEFT BACK ESSENTIAL. I'd also be playing Collins......but who am I to argue with MON the MAN?

We are a quality defensive midfielder and a decent left back short of a play off team.
Add competition/ replacement for Ince and we could be looking even higher.

Off topic , but I don't want to start a new thread. It seems to me that in recent years our big name signings have largely been a let down and that led to relegation. My memory is not brilliant.....were we seriously in for Dzeko at one stage. In my opinion that signing alone could have kept us up so it may have been worth paying £30m ( whatever) for him instead of other signings. ( hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing).
Also I always thought it a shame that we didn't try to get Defoe from Sunderland, he was capable of doing a job for a couple of years and I don't think Sunderland were in a position to keep him.

Drop/sell Allen, get in an actual left back.

People who want Allen to be sold really are a bit thick
As for Davies he’s played one game and give away the winning goal. Not sure he’s the answer either.
