Evenin' all....
I have been having a problem with my Home PC for a couple of weeks. When I log on, the machine boots-up OK, to the screen where it then prompts to click on a User - I have 5 set up on the system. My mouse works fine, so I can move the cursor over the icon I want (ie my log-in icon) but the cursor doesn't change to a 'hand' icon, as it should, therefore a double-click on the mouse has no effect. The only way to get round the problem as I see it, is to manually turn off the machine, turn back on, and sometimes it works ok, sometimes not.
So what's the problem? I have tried the mouse in different USB ports, powered down, and left for a while, to no avail.
Any help much appreciated. Ta.

I'm no expert but it sounds like you have a problem on start-up.
When you get into windows press:
Start
Run
type 'msconfig.exe'
Click start up tab
If you have alot of programmes running it may be that one of them is knackering your computer.
Try disabling all but one then log on - keep adding another until the problem starts and you wil have found your problem.
**NOTE I ACCEPT NO LIABILITY IF YOU FUCK YOUR COMPUTER**
