“Elvis Presley’s death deprives our country of a part of itself. He was unique, irreplaceable. He burst upon the scene with an impact that was unprecedented and will probably never be equalled. His music and his personality, fusing the styles of white country and black rhythm and blues, permanently changed the face of American popular culture. His following was immense. And he was a symbol to people the world over of the vitality, rebelliousness and good humour of this country.”President Carter

Apparently he had a fall a few weeks ago after wearing his new cowboy boots for the first time. They were found to be faulty with the wrong adhesive being used to hold them together. I guess you could say " You picked a fine time to leave me loose heel."
Sad news, a great innings and some classic tunes. I met the legendary motorcycle racer Kenny Roberts many years ago and he commented to someone else getting his autograph that he was always getting called Mr Rogers! Both legends in their fields! RIP

Surely not, but did Kenny Rogers sing at Staffordshire County Showground in the 90s? Either that, or it was a Kenny Rogers tribute. The first live music I remember seeing that wasn't at Pontins.
Clips of his songs were played on an obituary, and some of the non-country stuff sounded up my street (I didn't realise he'd done much else). Does anyone have recommendations?
