That's lovely!
What's sad though (and a sign of the times unfortunately), is that this thread has been around for about 6 hours, only had 2 posts before me including the OP and is buried halfway down the page below all the more "popular" threads which are just full of people insulting and arguing with each other.
This is a lovely way to bring some much needed joy back to the board.

Two years ago, almost to the day, I was lucky enough to receive a new kidney. While I wrote to thank the donor's family, I never knew the source of the organ; nor was the donor able to find out who had received the kidney. Nevertheless, my whole life has been transformed - I am no longer on dialysis and I can do activities which would not have been possible before the transplant. I cannot stress more strongly the benefits that organ donation can make to recipients lives and would encourage as many "oaties" as possible to consider organ donation in their will. On the general subject of "bad news", crime and crises make newspaper headlines while many small acts of day to day kindness are, of course, not considered newsworthy.

If it had been written as a good Tory heart going in to a Labour recipient it'd be on 6 pages by now

I’ve seen some nice gestures in shops last few days, people making sure the elderly and , in one case, a land mine victim get the supplies they needed and taking stuff out their own trolley to enable that. Seeing far too many money grabbing selfish f**kers at present. But the OP post was hugely touching thank you

On the topic of saying thank you I asked the hospital in Aberystwyth (during a check up) if they could let me know who the paramedics were who gave me the 20 minutes of roadside CPR last Easter after my cardiac arrest and kept working on me for the 40 minute trip to hospital in the back of the ambulance, including being zapped twice. They deserve a medal each. I've carried a donor card for years now and hopefully there's a few bits left that I haven't buggered up for others to benefit by.
