Given the Chief Medical Officer’s advice regarding washing of hands, does that mean that Stoke will be forced to provide hot water and soap in the toilets instead of the usual freezing cold water and empty dispensers?

Symptoms of the virus include lethargy, loss of focus and general lack of co-ordination...some of our players must already be infected

Joking apart its not completely inconceivable that the season will be wound up shortly or completed behind closed doors.

Theres a very real chance that games will be called off or played behind closed doors.
I'd say called off more likely, as even with behind closed doors, I'd imagine you're still going to have 100+ people gathered together (2 squads, officials, managers, coaches, physios, doctors etc).

Was there such a risk when SARS and MERS took off? I can't remember those in enough detail to compare to coronavirus, and I barely pay attention to the mass media as I don't know what to believe.

12 in a day. God always finds a way. 13 now. In England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Multiple "Unknown Origin" cases. Prepare, the next month is not going to be good.

12 in a day. God always finds a way. It is worrying and you imagine we'll get at least 10s of thousands of cases diagnosed in the next few months. Probably even more with mild symptoms that aren't diagnosed. We're a very complacent species, this is a very 'light' virus that has a low death rate that will still cause a lot of damage, deaths and harm. We've been warned this sort of thing is coming for years and still refused to properly take public health seriously. This is a bad one, which hopefully will die down quickly, but I dread the day when antibiotic resistance gets a foothold if we haven't properly prioritised as a civilised society.

36 people in the UK confirmed. That's as many people as you'd get in a small restaurant on a Friday night.

Well it wouldn't have any effect on half the dirty bastards using the toilets or have I been too kind with that estimate

36 people in the UK confirmed. That's as many people as you'd get in a small restaurant on a Friday night. But it's the number of people those 36 come into contact with. Look at Italy and Korea and how quickly it spreads. That boat off Japan started with 4, I think it was, ended up 700+!

Do we think it is being hyped up overly by the media etc or do we think that is a genuinely big worry? I mean, I read certain stats such as the common flu killing a hell of a lot more people per day in comparison to this Corona virus but then have we been told the exact fatalities of this new virus. We had all the same with ebola and sars was it? For example but is this a different monster and do we need to be worried? I'd say it's the opposite, being a conspiracy theorist loon. I reckon it's a much bigger problem than they're letting on. 'Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre and the University of Washington said they had evidence the virus may have been circulating in Washington state for up to six weeks undetected.'

Maybe they believe that the health minister would be using his time better attending today's crobra meeting rather than wasting travelling time to a meeting that could be done as a conference call

It's more how contagious it is that's the problem. Mortality rate not as high but given the age of our population and the mortality rates seen in other countries with this virus so far you could see 500k - 1 million deaths in the UK this year from it. I think our govt response is too late. We've done nothing, but they probably wouldn't mind whittling down the population a bit.

With Corona we're officially up to around 100k and in reality the number is probably way higher. As someone else said, the mortality rate is much lower than SARS, but it's much more of a problem because of how many people are carrying it.

It’s ok, Boro will win tonight, push us into the bottom 3, then government will come out tomorrow, season ends and positions at that point are deemed final.

Annual flu is a completely different virus. It is the spreading of this type of utter bollocks that persuades people to be complacent and possibly end up dead😡
