Coronavirus precautions? The figure quoted was 500,000 in the Imperial Model. Just seen an interesting clip on TV where they are discussing the 20,000 deaths figure. An expert said that between half and two thirds of those dying would have likely died anyway (at a similar time) due to old age and other underlying conditions. They were suggesting that there is an overlap between deaths from Covid-19 and those that would have died anyway, had we not had this virus outbreak. If we do end up with 20,000 deaths, they say that between 6,666 and 10,000 would likely be the figure attributed solely to Covid-19 (they called these excess deaths) with the remainder being people that would have likely died anyway. Interesting point about whether pneumonia or flu or similar would have done for many of the dead anyway. I get it can hit the young too and can even be fatal but I read the only survey of any size was in Italy of 400 people and the median age of death was 80. Of course that makes it no less heart breaking. It's also worth bearing in mind that while 20,000 dead people is an eye watering number 650,000 of us will die in the UK this year as we do every year so other illnesses will finish off the other 630,000, we should not forget there are many other excellent illnesses out there. I think the real issue here is this peak which must be flattened or the NHS will be sunk. Most of us will have to catch it in the end, I think that is increasingly clear, it's not going away altogether unless we get rid of it and shut all our borders to all trade and goods for ever and go back to the dark ages. |

Totally in line with the policy at The People Health Agency here. The original hypothesis seems to be the one they still go for: "It's good if as many people as possible get Corona".

Really upsetting update personally from me. A close family friend here has died this morning. She was fine a week ago, somehow contracted the virus and developed mild symptoms and started self isolation. It got worse and 3 days ago had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. Straight to intensive care. However, she was 71 and had lupus and therefore was deemed not worthy enough of a respirator given there aren't anywhere near enough. She was allowed to pass away by herself. I guess many of us will be sharing similar stories in the next few weeks and there's no preparing for it. I'm still shocked at how fast it escalated. Not sure anymore what to do or think. I'm so so sorry Milan. We'll be with you xx |

In all probability the virus was beyond China's borders very it had even been identified Their authorities covered it up for over a month, they arrested two scientists for alerting them to it's existence why ? Because they are a corrupt regime who wanted to avoid criticism. However as I said in all probability the virus was beyond China's borders before it was identified. China could have the most enlightened govt in history the virus would still have happened. |
