Yep Starmer and his cronies are equally as culpable in all this by not opposing. Tossers Just caught an image of the commons on TV, the opposition bench is literally empty, disgraceful considering they are HM opposition, they are supposed to be holding the government to account. Interestingly one of the conservative MPs who is opposing the extension has said the official legislation paperwork contains no reference to a 2 week review that Boris promised and also says the data will only be reviewed on the 19th July - if you take that literally it means that this most certainly does not end on the 19th as that's the date of the decision, not freedom. I don't trust this 4 week delay as far as I could throw it. It will get dragged out till flu season hits us, then there will be no need for variant scaremongering as the flu deaths will populate the graphs which will be enough to carry on this pantomime, then next spring the variant's can be used again.

After two doses of AstraZeneca, you are 74% protected against symptoms and 92% protected against getting sick enough to need hospital. Does that count as the vaccines working or not? Yes, it means they work. It’s just people keep posting that there’ll be loads of deaths, so I can only assume they think the vaccines don’t work. I get ya. I think it's possible to have both though. If ~half of people have two doses then they're almost all safe, but that still leaves almost half of people since this Delta variant seems better at breaking through a single jab. Dr James Annan ran the numbers and showed we could still get loads of deaths, you just need a virus with high enough R number so to rampage through the unvaccinated before they get jabbed. Even though most of them are younger it could still be rough. He made it very clear that's unlikely though, and he got to the same conclusion as me (prob safe to open up before the 4 week extension). But I don't think it's crazy to think we'll see deaths go up, and before we had the new info on how effective the double dose is vs. Delta it could have turned out pretty badly.

Just had an email from a hotel booking in Manchester, saying they’ve taken the difficult decision to close the bar and restaurant during our stay, but rooms will remain open. Surely if they’ve got any concerns they should shut the entire hotel. The world is a giant sausage fest. Well that sucks, sorry mate. I've booked a $30/night basement room for my trip to Pittsburgh. I'm not paying for a nicer hotel just to find out the hot tub is closed again, and the bacon and eggs have been swapped for a plastic box of fruit loops they throw at you from a distance. ...and bars will be open no matter what. I can just walk down the street for a pint of Yuengling.

Maybe I should be taking bets on this.

Sipping his drink through his mask? Perhaps He doesn't want to spill his shandy coming back from the bar?

California is "roaring back" starting yesterday. No more state mask requirement if you're vaccinated, loads more stuff open etc.
Vaccines going well and the US is a few months behind us with variants - it's mostly Alpha (Kent) ATM.
I didn't do shit yday though, there's a nasty heatwave. 36 C here and the place I normally stop off at on my trips to Arizona hit 50 C.

Oh...do the vaccines not work then? After two doses of AstraZeneca, you are 74% protected against symptoms and 92% protected against getting sick enough to need hospital. Does that count as the vaccines working or not? So then significant deaths won’t come…

So then significant deaths won’t come… Not as long as the over 40s aren't double jabbed which will happen in next few weeks. Hence I was happy with delay as I won't get my 2nd jab until July and I'm 48. I've been on the careful side but come 19th July I'm happy for society to be opened up.

no the truth. its a amazing virus with all different names. it even knows when your standing up and sitting down. it goes up,down ,sideways. the last laugh is on you. so hide in your little corner and keep your muzzle on,like a good little boy. Erm, is that post in English? It vaguely resembles a basic grasp of the language. I’ve got my muzzle on but a mask might work better, no? 😂 This fella cracks me up😂 you are cracked up pal. this weapon, would want everyone locked down for good.

Ah yes I see, so decide restrictions will continue first, then scurry around and find some erroneous data to support the decision, present it in a misleading way and bobs your uncle.
Winner 👍

If these jabs work, what does it matter about what other people choose? And since discrimination is now okay. Can we stop fat people from using public transport?
