You can't argue against 105.6k posts on the Oatie tbf They changed their mind 3 days ago and went to what seemed obvious. I don’t get why anyone would trust them tbh especially when Cummings is around calling the shots. We needed to do what we’re doing now 10 days ago. It was absolutely obvious. I honestly didn't realise how bad it would be until last weekend. Feeling pretty stupid right now. EDIT: in hindsight I'd checked out the R0 and fatality rates and didn't really believe the Chinese numbers. I was wrong.

Piss about it seems and see lots more people die. Absolute clusterfuck of a presser this is. I think they are paging you in icu My girlfriend's working in the ICU today & haven't heard from her yet. Was supposed to move to a different rotation next week but now probably won't. She also cancelled her holiday in May and all the residents on non-critical rotations were locked down last week so they can fill the holes in the ranks once the docs start dropping. EDIT: and these precautions are a minimum level of what's needed. The scientists working on this have persuaded me that we need a more severe quarantine than we have, and the U.S. is far far behind where the UK is.

Up 48 so not quite tracking Italy now We’re worse at the same stage according to current press conference. Also the rise is not a constant, people’s actions this weekend from images we’ve seen could cause an explosion, an exponential growth! It’s obvious now that if the minority carry on dicking around then we will all suffer.

So those fucking around today will barely change the numbers next week, or even the week after that.

According to a scientist on the radio yesterday, the most worrying thing about this Covid 19 virus is that it has a big tool box. It can transform and mutate and do whatever it wants if an obsticle occur. That makes it difficult with a vaccine. And that's also why the isolated herd immunity theory could be fatal. It might require one herd immunity period in the society after another. It 'could' potentially mutute, but so could any other virus. Not sure why you make it sound like it can do as it pleases. I'll put that down to poor English. This was my comment: "Another worrying thing is that, in Hong Kong they discovered a 2nd case of Corona in pet dog in human to animal transmission." I admit my English is not so good, but what is the poor English in that, you can check the full story on New York PostFrom the article: "“It is very likely that the two positive cases [in Hong Kong] are examples of human-to-dog transmission,” Professor Malik Peiris, a public health virologist at the University of Hong Kong told the outlet. "

Youngest person to die today was 18.
They had an 'underlying health condition' but it hasn't been reported what it was.
I guess that could mean anything from somebody having chemo, to somebody who has asthma.

Yes that was my reaction too. Why? Haven't heard anything about that. Just checked the latest update on Gov.uk and no mention of anything to do with pets. The high-risk group 1. Solid organ transplant recipients 2. People with specific cancers: people with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radical radiotherapy for lung cancer, people with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma who are at any stage of treatment, people having immunotherapy or other continuing antibody treatments for cancer, people having other targeted cancer treatments which can affect the immune system, such as protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors, people who have had bone marrow or stem cell transplants in the last 6 months, or who are still taking immunosuppression drugs 3. People with severe respiratory conditions including all cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD. 4. People with rare diseases and inborn errors of metabolism that significantly increase the risk of infections (such as SCID, homozygous sickle cell). 5. People on immunosuppression therapies sufficient to significantly increase risk of infection. How to self-isolate For those concerned they have coronavirus in the UK, Public Health England has issued advice about how to self-isolate. 1. Stay at home: Don't leave your house except when you need to seek medical care. Ask for help buying groceries or have them delivered. 2. Stat away from your housemates: Stick in a well-ventilated room away from others, with the door closed. Use a separate bathroom and wear a facemask when it shared areas. 3. Call ahead before visiting the doctors so they can take extra precautionary measures. 4. Cover you coughs and sneezes: Make sure to cover your nose and mouth and to throw away disposable tissues in a plastic waste bag. 5. Wash your hands regularly: This should be done often and thoroughly with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds, rinse and dry thoroughly. 6. Avoid sharing household items: You should not share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, towels, bedding or other items with other people in your home when you have used them. After using these items, wash them thoroughly with soap and water. 7. Do not have visitors in your home. 8. Keep away from your pets if possible.
9. Keep your clothes clean: Do laundry on the highest temperature possible and clean all surfaces around the washing machine. 10. Monitor your symptoms: Seek prompt medical attention if your illness is worsening, for example, if you have difficulty breathing, or if the person you are caring for symptoms are worsening. www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/coronavirus-full-list-high-risk-21733841

I chose to go to the pub for several reasons There is belive it or not a big difference from advice to a instruction So do you think they should rule by force Should I be prevented from walking my dog They had to end up ruling by force with pubs because people wouldn’t stay away. They instructed at risk people not to go and advised others to not. But either way, semantics are a weak argument when everyone who mattered was saying avoid them and then they closed them anyway because people ignored it. They’ve said again, be responsible, going to the pub was completely irresponsible. No getting around it. The Deputy CMO just said the same, be responsible, keep your distance outside and stay away from others and you can walk your dog as much as you like. If you have free space for that and won’t see anyone, fantastic. The problem is like with pubs certain people won’t do that or can’t do that and if you’ve seen any footage of parks and walking places today you’d see they aren’t already. As a direct consequence, people will die.

Criticism today from China towards Italy: "they don't stay indoors, they live their ordinary lives it seems, with dinners, gatherings, parties, hugs and kisses. It is like the Corona virus didn't exist."
To me a bit like Sweden.
Unfortunately.
We have a "new" epidemiologist on tv now though, more and more ... and he's scared Sweden will be the new Italy.
Hopefully our Prime Minister will have something sensible to say to the nation this evening at 9 p.m.

Even today a question about how hard it is to stop kids being within 2m of each other, it might be hard but granny or grandad dying is harder so follow the instructions.
