Everyone seems to think Blackburn will beat us - why? They look a very ordinary average side, like a lot of teams in this division, apart from WBA at home no one has really looked like they have a lot of quality. They don't have any real stand out players that can be described as game changers or match winners and even our fragile defence on their day are good enough to cope with what they have to offer. Gouranga.

I thought they were pretty decent when they beat us in November. We had half chances but they tore through us at times.

We're undoubtedly second favourites.
They've got 14 more points than us and a +10 goal difference, compared to our -10.
They're in good form too, winning 2 of the last 3 (and 4 of the last 6).
It's a crazy league though, so we shouldn't be overly worried. Anyone can beat anyone it seems. We've already won away at West Brom. Barnsley won 3-0 away at Fulham just a week or so ago!
I'd be happy with a point though.

They are on a good run and are a decent side, doesn't mean we can't win just need to keep things in proportion if we don't.

Player for player we should be beating them comfortably.
However, team for team makes it a more level playing field.
The damage to our players’ morale by previous regimes is badly affecting our ability to compete as a team. Thank goodness O’Neill came along to bring a measure of teamwork to our group of individuals. However, it is a work in process and will take a while longer to sort out properly.

It's got midweek capitulation written all over it. But I admire your optimism - I last felt like that when we were 2-0 up at QPR . Might we even rest a couple - Powell or Chester, say - as the weekend is more winnable? Not generally a fan of this but the games are coming thick and fast.

Think people are forgetting that Dack is out. His absence has coincided with their best run of form of the season....

One of them games isn’t it.
Midweek away from home.
Spells defeat.

It just has the feeling of a game where we feel we’ll get something and then we get rolled over.

Last 10 games;
W D L Pts
Stoke 5 1 4 16 Blackburn 4 3 3 15
... Tend to agree with Cobhamstokey though.
What about Lancashire, Numismatist?

I thought they were pretty decent when they beat us in November. We had half chances but they tore through us at times. We were good going forward that day, fair few amount of chances and some good defending on their part, but you right we were shocking defensively. Some shocking defending for their first if I remember right.

One of them games isn’t it. Midweek away from home. Spells defeat. Despite uniform playing surfaces and gentrified audiences home advantage particularly under flood lights remains statistically a huge deal which can't be ignored.

Seems fair to think we’ll lose.
We’re a really inconsistent side and they have all the tools that bother us.
One of them being Danny Graham, which is really fookin sad.

Armstrong is the real threat though isn’t he? Rapid pace against our lumbering carthorse defenders doesn’t normally end well for us.

Armstrong is the real threat though isn’t he? Rapid pace against our lumbering carthorse defenders doesn’t normally end well for us. Graham has been the one though in the last few matches. Even against Shawcross. He dragged the centre halves all over the shop and our midfield aren’t clever enough to get in front of him to stop the ball reaching him. That then creates the spaces for others.

We lose most of our games on the road, specially night matches.
We'll need a dogged rear guard operation, a moment of genius up front and a slice of luck.
I'm just not sure we will get any of the above.
