He definitely feels he can't trust anyone else and fair play. I hope when he gets his own players though they will be dropped for last weeks wank.

For those who were doubting the manager he proved he was exactly spot on today!! The result is everything in our position. If he picks 11 defenders and we win he's vindicated. He's only open to criticism when we don't get the result

Not many managers can pick up a side that’s been battered and beaten out of sight. And turn them around to get critical victories in the next game.
And he’s done it twice.

Interesting that he said players on the outside have to do enough to say they are better , looks like edwards and Lindsay and Diouf just aren’t doing enough and he was certainly vindicated today

The clean sheet and the result certainly vindicate the team selection, and you can only play what is in front of you, but that back four never really looked solid to me and it was only down to how woeful Cardiff were, and their woeful front two, that saw us get away with it.
Against a decent side (god knows who that is in this crazy league) that back four would get another mauling easily.
The balance is just way off beam for me.

Really struggle to watch this current group and I can't wait to see the back of them. However, O'Neil deserves immense credit for getting results out of them. 9 wins is an unbelievable effort. Excited for next season.

One is a converted left winger and the other classed as a utility player in the mould of Ian Marshall. Great result and clean sheet but we really shouldn't be getting carried away, and I'm sure the manager isn't.

I would guess that he was very disappointed with them after the last two games and told them (more or less politely) to get their act together. It looks to me that they have risen to the challenge.

Actually quite a few managers do, in fact I'd say all but Nathan Jones have done it at one time or another. Bit of copy and paste here!!! Apologies! The difference being.....we’re still a squad packed with frail mentalities, has developed an ability to implode under the slightest pressure and has perfected the art of succumbing meekly to defeat against any side with even a hint of quality. To recover from the disastrous performances at Derby and QPR and follow them up with crucial victories says to me that MON is highly skilled and able to manage both individuals and squads with genuine competence.

Back four kept them out all game They never had a sniff Utter shit last week, safe as houses this week Not absolutely correct m'lord though we were much much better at the back today. Chester was sloppy with 2 clearances early doors and put us under pressure from their long throw, when he could have cleared 20 yards further down the line. And then it was Chester again who stupidly lost possession 25 yards out which could have easily led to a goal. Thought we were quite vulnerable down their right attacking Bruno and it shows just how much we are missing the defensive aspect of McClean's game. Overall the back 4 coped well against a side who have lost just once in their last 16 games. Clearly good work put in by the manager and our back 4 in training this week but M'ON still needs to give Chester a knowing squeeze in the knackers when saying 'well done' to him! Stoke and we need to keep it going!

Fair play to the manager, when I heard the team for yesterday I couldn't understand why he hadn't changed anything after last weeks capitulation. Personally I would dropped at least 4.
In MON we trust.

I think some of you on here wont be happy till we go on a long unbeaten run. We are a poor team, we will lose draw and win, we all know we have players that are sometimes going to have bad games, it's nothing new so get over it. MON has turned things round on the whole and if we survive then hes done a great job. If it ended now we will have survived. We know we have a good manager so let's back him(and his players) CHEER UP A BIT EH!!

So O'Neil proves his management credentials by sticking with a losing side trusting he'll get a reaction and does and your answer is to insist he stops that nonsense and changes things after every loss?

Horrendous performance without consequences will never work out in the end. And chopping and changing after every setback is a sure fire route to success? O'Neil's success has been based on identifying a core set of players in order to establish an understanding between the players and build an effective team on that basis. You want to throw that out of the window for no apparent reason - apart from some sort of macho display of I'm the boss. I'm sure we'll suffer a loss and O'Neil will make changes either to freshen things up, give someone a rest or give someone a chance who is showing up in training, Other times if he can't see a better option and the players have demonstrated they want to make amends he'll stick. One thing he doesn't need to do is to do the big I am and establish his authority by playing a game of "consequences" with the players.

The Sheikh seems to be calling for exactly what Jones was doing towards the end of his ill-fated reign. It didn't work for Jones and I doubt it would work for MON. Managers at the biggest clubs with 25 high quality senior players can afford to mix and match with constant changes. MON has a large squad of, mostly moderate players with a few good ones and an equal number of total duds. He doesn't have the quality to follow the Jones route of trying to perm 11 from 25 each time the team puts in a bad performance.
