Dominated the game, outplayed and outsmarted where it really mattered. tbh that's what top and bottom of this league look like. So how to rate Mick on tonight? He did a lot of things right and to me at least it didn't feel like another Derby. I'm not usually big on blaming players when problems could have been sorted with better training ground routines - but it didn't feel like that today either. We might have dominated but Preston had the quality to bother us constantly and that didn't help us make good decisions on the pitch when it mattered.
Wonder how many if any of our starting X1 would have got into that Preston side? I'm not sure anyone would and that speaks volumes.
So I'm saying either, too many players' limitations got shown up tonight - or, we've still got a few months' hard work before we've got the confidence as a squad to win games like this one.
A surprisingly generous 7* for MoN from me

7*
Started the game well and had opportunities to score but you could see as the game progressed and Preston started the shit tactics we were losing a grip on the game.
If Tyrese had scored before Preston scored it would have opened the game for us to play a counter attacking game. Sadly we didnt and they did.
Then the snidey tactics started and we lost it. Fortunately MON subbed Mclean before he lost his head but clucas should have been subbed as well cos he was poor. Still dont like the one man up front for home games either.
Bitterly disappointed to lose to a team that played Bournemouth style football, but we weren't helped by a gutless referee.
Next game is mega important now to wash this one out of the system.

Very poor second half the manager got it wrong second half to much small triangles on the left side with left footed players not able to change the routine with a right foot through ball, to many hit and hope crossing,

*4 from me mainly for starting with Ince and only one striker at home Ince is terrible and only gets on because of his surname....Campbell cannot play up front on his own....far too weak I think this season may go to the last game !

Campbell was great first half when he was playing on the shoulder of the last man. Second half though we just kept lumping the ball into the PNE box and their defenders won it every time. Ty was never going to get a sniff because he’s not a target man. *6 for MON. Did nothing wrong first half, but our tactics just didn’t work second half.

Ince was man of the match on Saturday. Can hardly not start him next match. Campbell had a good game, great shot first half which brought out the only real save of the match. Had that gone in we'd possibly have gone on to win with everybody singing Campbell and O'Neil's praises. As with every lone striker when we have to defend he became isolated as the midfield had to drop deeper to help the defence. For me he did a great job and used his body strength well.

The risable Vokes sub negates any good he did. 5. That sub was bizarre as it totally played into their hands by playing Campbell on the wing as they were petrified of him on the deck Verlinden for Maclean would of sufficed or taken Ince off and played Vokes alongside Campbell Campbell went from being a threat and our only goal hope to being a passenger

4*
Overall he's done a cracking job given the mess he inherited, but he needs to get more out of his wide men.
Every time Ince and McClean get the ball they're too deep, they've got their backs to the opposition goal and they're often double marked. So they play the ball back to the full-back. The ball then gets played across the back four until it gets to Baath who knocks it long and we lose possession. It's like a video on a loop.
Also, the supposed 4-3-3 too easily becomes a 4-5-1 with an isolated striker.

I could understand Vokes if it had happened at 1-0.Campbell was isolated and we resorted to hoof ball once we conceded which is pointless with Campbell on his own. The only player with an aerial presence is Vokes though he doesn't win that many. BMI should have been hauled earlier. It was noticeable that the threat down their right evaporated once he was replaced by Clucas.

7* picked the same team and we were unlucky not to have taken the lead. We lost to a Preston team who seem like experts in the darker arts of the game and a ref that was Sunday league standard. Gouranga.
