Tobacco and alcohol are both known to cause psychosis so it's very rich to prohibit other drugs on those grounds. I'd read about the LSD and the terminally ill, how it can be illegal to make their final few months, weeks or days more bearable is even more baffling than the rest of our ludicrous laws in this area. When you read about the horrific side effects of some legal 'safe' drugs you can't help but wonder if the laws are there for the safety of the people or the profits of the big pharma companies, at the moment it's looking like the latter to me. Most seem to blame Timothy Leary for the legal status of LSD in the US. How the fuck is DMT illegal? Its endogenous. We all have DMT in our bodies. As Terence Mackenna said "we're all carrying". I'll check out Timothy Leary, cheers. Same with cannabinoids as you doubtless already know, the first time we put cannabinoids in our body we're usually less than 10 minutes old, breast milk is full of them.

It'd be just another plant sequestering more CO2, why would Greta be upset about that?

I wouldn't advocate advertising it any more than I advocate advertising of the far more dangerous drug, alcohol. As for 'artificial substances' and 'giving their head a wobble' - what a condescending attitude, do you drink alcohol? How much land is given over to farming hops? How about grapes for wine? Tea and coffee are mind altering, caffeine drinks too, better get rid of them no? As pointed out above, the only society not to use plants for mind altering purposes in the history of mankind is the Innuits and there's a very, very good reason for that.

I was approached by two smack heads yesterday hassling me for money. Apparently it was their birthday and they wanted to celebrate, but assured me the money wouldn’t go on drugs. I was tempted to give them something to “help” them on their journey but thought better of it. Then it got me thinking, if they are daft enough to put this shit into themselves, why should I even be bothered?

Do you drink alcohol when you're in the pub? No I prefer orange juice and tap water only frequent the establishment to watch a bit of football since I told sky to fuck off But my local Portuguese bar does a very nice no alcohol stout And the people who do drink alcohol in there are presumably all extremely well behaved at all times? I don't think it's advisable to mix cocaine and alcohol, from what I've read the combination increases the health danger considerably, but if it was legal, consumers could be advised accordingly, at the moment we're just letting people play Russian Roulette. I've never tried it personally, I've seen people on it, some have been knobheads and some have been ok, much like alcohol funnily enough. It doesn't seem, to me anyway, that it being illegal is providing you with a satisfactory outcome, we have some of the harshest laws in Europe and seemingly the biggest problems, prohibition is working well then.

Just say no doesnt appear to have worked either. So it's freely available and not controlled or taxed in any way. And the conversation and education around it reflects its illegality. I'm not saying the coke head in your local pub is or isnt a tosser by the way. I'm not even saying cocaine is a particularly interesting drug. I just dont see what benefits there are to the illegality if they are there anyway.

I wonder how many of those opioid deaths were down to prescription drugs, there was a programme on BBC2 the other night about the prescription opioid crisis going the way it already has in the US. I imagine the drug death number pales into insignificance when compared with deaths caused by fags and booze. Everyone in America is off their tits on drugs one way of another. Not really sure that’s true but..... Ill drink to that.

Illegality in some cases seems to increase the attractiveness of drugs, to teens in particular. From what I've read cannabis use in teens has dropped in states in the US where it's been legalised, not as 'cool' as it was when it was illegal apparently.
