www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51129422What're we thinking? Quick way to drum up short term funds for FFP? Surely can't be expecting it to be taken advantage of on any great scale... Can't work out their angle.

Can't work out their angle. That's like buying a very expensive lottery ticket with a very modest jackpot. Really desperate stuff.

My concern is watching Sheffield Wednesday for eternity- surely some kind of hell?

It isn't that uncommon amongst large clubs (usually in the Prem) to offer multi year season tickets - often called debentures. I seem to remember that, when Newcastle redeveloped their ground to build that enormously high stand which runs round two sides of the pitch, they had to fight a court case with those debenture holders whose seats were moved as a part of the redevelopment.

I can see why Wednesday would do this. Quick injection of extra cash and, if they get to the Prem then ticket money becomes a fairly minor part of their income...what's not to like...other than stated above, it means watching Wednesday

Leeds did something similar in the early 1990's after they won the league and got to the European Cup semies. It was all part of Peter Risdale's doomed attempt to get them into the group of European super clubs and resulted in their bankruptcy.
