I'm sure that quite a few of us like the ale a bit too much. I certainly do. Once I start, I forget where the brake pedal is, and the handbrake. Most (probably all) of my old drinking pals are now dead (they died in their 50s). It certainly is time for myself to start "liking less, more". I got lucky unlike your drinking pals. I just took it a bit too far on one occasion and without actually being drunk my body reacted badly. I blacked out and after 20 continual minutes of roadside CPR I was put in the ambulance and went into cardiac arrest twice needing to be zapped to get my heart into rhythm again.
This was only last Easter. If there were ever an incentive to lay off the grog for good that was it. Used to love my beer and wine but the risks are too great for me to ever be tempted again. "If Carlsberg did incentives to lay off the grog..........." That's what we love about you, Chuff - you only do BIG stuff. The TV ad would be GRRRRREAT! (EDIT) Er......... only kidding / really glad you're back with us after the 'adventure', etc. etc! xxx The TV ad would be GRRRRREAT, though!

Might I suggest then, that you go and use your misplaced idea of "humour" somewhere else. You really are in the wrong place on this one.

There's no criticism of your post mate it's just by way of explanation.

Murph knows the full detail of what happened and we have kept in touch as I've updated my progress since the 'incident'. Glad to say all is very good now and the oatcake has got some great folk who are happy to help in all manner of things.

So those that meet up with People Friends Family for drinks. Do you prefer day drinking or going somewhere at night. I much prefer day drinking.

Constant stream of booze from the train in the morning all the way through to getting the last train back and hopping into the Terrace afterwards, then maybe Castle depending on the time, or a bit of a spirit based nightcap at home.

Better than me then. Now in my 30s i love going in the day and being out all day. By 8pm though im just ready to sit in the chair and Sober up. Those first few pints though around sat lunchtime in a city usually are wonderful. I also now know my limit. I know if i have that one more than i should the 2 day hangover isnt wort it. I can do 7 pints then if were still out it will have to be usually Coca Cola with somthing like Jim Bean in or a Whiskey on the rocks.

Love day drinking more than night drinking too and you're right about those 1st couple of pints. Like you I know my limits more now. Any more than 5 pints and there's a chance I'll be a bit rough the next day. 5 pints is the magic number. Re dry January. Still only the 4 pints early in the month so far for me. Felt like shit and still fucking boring. Can't wait to get back on it.
