The publishers have asked me to produce an updated paperback version of our "Marvellous" book of Neil's life in time for the New Vic Theatre's stage play which starts in September (see link below - tickets now on sale) www.newvictheatre.org.uk/productions/marvellous/If any readers have any anecdotes about Nello, and/or pictures, particularly about things which have happened since the film, which you think might be worth a mention, please PM me sap and we can arrange a chat. Thanks. I should add that, having read the script, I think the play is going to be very good. It's different to the film, but funny and quirky, and will give a good nights entertainment.

I would love to witness Nello, Bayern and Benj sitting in a room discussing a match.

Monica would do a very good Mum!
By the way can anybody help Monica. She is coming up from Euston for the Derby Match on Friday 31st . Arriving possibly 12;50 or 1:50 to catch a coach from the ground to Derby. For Middlesbrough she found there were no taxis as all the drivers were at prayer. Could anybody offer her a lift from Stoke station to take away any potential stress!
Best wishes John!

Is it true that bayernoatcake has been cast as "young Nello" in the play - with Monica as his mum? Bayern could only wish to know as much about football as Nello

I just thought I would give this another showing at the top, as I will shortly be starting to write the new material. If you have any anecdotes or pictures which you think might be relevant, please PM me. Thanks. Whilst posting, if you listen to the recent Peter Crouch podcast about agents, he plays the messages left on his answerphone ( about 30 mins in), two of which are from Nello.

Almost ironic you ask this, just finished telling my lad about nello and me and my dads experience of him. Watched marvellous too with him. Hopefully he puts the north face and other designer shit down and realises we are just us!
I spent 10 years at stoke from 9 or 10, lots of time with Lou which was amazing. We used to go to the old trophy room at the vic for sarnies between training/youth games. Nello took a shine to my dad, always used to say ‘cowboy film is on, sit with me’. My dad always did, wasn’t a patient man, hated everybody, but always did with Neil! Lee Sandford told us he was more respected than the owners throughout the club! What a legend!
PM me if you want to get in touch 👍🏻👍🏻

It's not good for him and must be costing a fortune. There are times when only a stern word from a father will do. Unplug the wifi and get the Scrabble out for an old-fashioned family night in.

I'm sure someone must have posted this before, but your post prompted me to do a quick calculation. Since he registered Bayern has averaged 22 posts per day - that includes every day - match days, work days, holidays, illness days - for 13 and a half years. Quite extraordinary. I think my total of 3.7k posts is very large and quite sad, but I'm not remotely in the same league. How does he do it . How many hours per day does he spend reading this Board ?

I am told by somebody who's met him that he's not quite as mad as this behaviour suggests. I think the real challenge is having so many opinions on every conceivable subject. But if you're having dozens of opinions a day, you'll be right now and then I suppose.
