I think he's making a mistake going to Rangers, they have a few games against decent opposition, non usually against prem standard opposition. It's a place to go if you have promise bit will never likely be good enough for the top flight, like Joe Aribo.
I'm surprised they can offer him more than us in terms of wages etc

Could MON turn Afobe around next season? Who is better him or Campbell?
I still hope we keep him though!

Said a few pages ago, Rangers makes sense in terms of their strikers and probable departures and the pull of Gerrard. Let’s face it, they’re going to be in Europe next year with an exciting young manager and he’s been made sceptical by our behaviour. It was never going to end well. Is Scotland a long term mistake? Probably as I think he’d dominate this league next year but if I was 20 and offered the chance to work with someone who was as big as Gerrard was in Tyrese’s childhood I’d probably move too.
Hopefully, something compels him to stay.

I can see Afobe potentially featuring in the mix here. Rowett and that Welsh wizard of drivel clearly had an “allergic” effect on several players and after crowd “unrest” Afobe wanted to escape the turmoil. His rehabilitation seems to be going well and he may now play again at Bristol before the end of the season. I suspect M’ON will play a big part in how the Afobe and Campbell situations develop. Although Campbell is out of contract in the summer Afobe is still contacted to Stoke even though Bristol have an option to buy.

He’s been fucked around by 3 previous managers and he’s too far pissed off to turn back We went down with a whimper whilst persevering with strikers who continually failed and never looked like scoring .....our premiership existence just frittered away whilst trying nothing different It continued after relegation I don’t care if he was 17 or 27 we kept hammering the same drum and never gave him a chance People keep saying he was fucked about, are people blind or have bad memories, he had a run in the team and did nowt he went on loan and i work with Shrewsbury fans and they said he was no loss when he came back Stoke, its amazing what a few goals does to people's memory. Do you think it's just a coincidence that a new manager has come to the club and Tyrese is finally looking much fitter and showing his potential?

If he goes we move on it’s as simple as that If he goes, the club needs to radically overhaul the pathways to the first team offered to young players. If a 2 million quid 17-18 year old from Man City can’t make it into our first team easily it’s time to shut it down.

On his 1st full start he scored 2 goals, he then started the next 2 games before being sent out on loan because we signed Vokes. That's hardly a run in the team. Rate him or not he's had nowhere near the games Vokes,Afobe,Berahino & Gregory have had. You forgetting the run in the team under Nath ? when he couldn't last a full match ?. I agree he has not played has many games but why ? three managers didnt want play him for a reason so he must have been doing something wrong somewhere, but lets not forget he scored 3 goals so that's good enough for a mega pay rise and a silly contract. Give him 3 year contract with a sell on and a release clause set at a silly price like other clubs do. 3 games cannot be construed as a "run in the team"

So Campbell has given until Friday for our best offer. Looks like he’s off. We aren’t great at working with deadlines, see the BMI agreed no rush deal

If we're spending what Is still a pretty big figure on a young player and then just not ensuring they get to the first team what is the point in the first place. Our last youth player to play in 50+ league games must be who? Wilko? That's a shocking indictment.

I've just read about the fee breakdown, it was 750k upfront, 500k if he plays for England and 500k when he plays a certain number of games. But the point stands, why spend the money if you're not going to give them the pathways.

Just to seek clarification.... so we buy a promising youngster £1.75m, invest in him for a few years to the point when he looks useful and potentially a good player for us, then we sell for £350k? Is this the same recruitment team that is responsible for Imbula, Wimmer et al? Given that the professional football business is results orientated then how is is after so many bad results that this management team retain their jobs? To be honest, if I was Campbell and weighing up the options then apart fTom it being the Scottish league I would have to lean towards Rangers - if Gerrard does well he will get a PL club and likely take Campbell with him, the low transfer fee will mean more wages for him, low transfer fee = less pressure, playing Euro football, probably winning a medal, likely to get game time and more opportunity to develop, whereas at Stoke he is nearing the end of a contract, if he signed he could be in the Championship for years, maybe less money, moaning Stokies on his back if he doesn't score every game, can see more positives going to Rangers.

Not even sell, simply lose and only get money for because of tribunal stipulations. It's like buying a chassis with the intention of doing it up, ignoring it and then just getting rid for a fraction of the price. You'd be called an idiot. It's a ludicrous way to run a football club. Fair enough we offered a contract at some point but if your main concern was game time and you've repeatedly not got it, why would you sign? I honestly think if he stayed here, he'd be a star next season and we'd probably then sell him unless we got promoted. Rangers represent a big club, European Football, an adequate niche as their strikers are old or probably going to leave and then there is the Gerrard effect. I can perfectly understand why he'd go even though I do think his career would really take off here next year.

Ok £400k compensation but still struggling to see the business sense in that whole package of bringing him in, investing and then the compensation in return, is it me or is that bad business sense (again) from our management team? I think if I was his dad, it would be a tough one given he has now broken into the team, with a new manager that has belief in him, to develop in an arguably better league on a week to week basis versus the alternative at Rangers but I think if it was my kid I think Rangers would be the better option at this moment in time. I suppose we would have to move on and try again but can we actually be confident of doing that with the management team we have in place. Maybe one positive thing if he does leave is that those at the top finally realise they have a layer of wankers underneath but then if they can't see that already then.... I'm more worried about our overall transfer policy and player development, how shit it is, how much it has cost the club, the predicament it has put us in and no obvious signs it is going to change. If losing Campbell for £400k means we also lose Scholes then perhaps there is a case that it's overall positive.

Should be a no-brainer for Campbell really. He probably isn't good enough to be a regular premier league striker so his options are Stick with Stoke and spend his prime years knocking around mid-table championship or Play under Gerrard with regular european games and high profile derbies v Celtic and win some medals? Easy choice surely. And before someone comes on and says yeah but for every Celtic match there are away trips to Ross County.... there is every possibility of a Wycombe v Stoke fixture next year
