Nathan Jones left Charlton for Brighton in 2013, it was fucking ages ago he has fond memories of a teenager he coached it's incomparable to O'Neill working with Thompson. Sorry mate, you confused me with your wording. Me too!

I dont really understand why you're getting edgy about this? I haven't disagreed with anything you said and I've said I think he'll be a decent addition. My point was that working with a player previously, whether at youth level or not isnt a guarantee of them being a success here, regardless of position, as we've seen previously with Cousins. It just strikes me as a similar situation, the comments from Blackpool fans posted previously arent too complimentary (as they weren't from QPR fans) but it's a case of trusting in the managers knowledge of working with him previously, as it did with NJ and Cousins. Not seeing a single Blackpool fan wanting him gone, they're just skeptical of whether he can do it in the champ... Also O'Neill has seen him play recently, just a couple months ago vs. Charlton which was literally 7 years ago. fansonline.net/blackpool/mb/view.php?id=3449640From the link earlier, there at at least a few disparaging comments recently. The general consensus seems pretty mixed anyway. You make a good point about the length of time comparisons, but JT only has two caps under MON, they haven't exactly worked closely together for long. My original point wasnt that it's not a good transfer or a comparison between Thompson and Cousins ability wise, just that it's not a change of tact under MON. Jones targeted previous players he trusted too rightly or wrongly. Hopefully this one works out better.

Hopefully he'll be one of those players who'll flourish at the right club...... And hopefully that club will be us!!! 🤞🏼🙏🏼 Absolutely! The Golden One could not break into the Oxford first team- if only we could unearth Steino 2! If only.....oh for another Steino or Sheeron!!!

We were mighty mighty up to last season. We must still be at least slightly mighty i did notice that the chap that announces the team into 5 mins before kick off used to call us “The mighty......mighty......Potters” Now it’s just the “Mighty Potters” If we drop down a league it will just be “the potters” I can’t even think what it will be if go to league 2!!!!

I think we can safely say this is a MON signing.....though there will be someone out there who will argue that it isn't!!!
No-one can say whose signing it is until we see how well they work out and how much we like the manager. It's the way it works on here spit
e.g. if they work out well then it's 100% the manager's player...if it goes tits up and they're shit, then it was down to Scholes...if it goes tits up and they're shit AND we don't like the manager, then it's both O'Neill's AND Scholes' fault.

Jordan seems a very common name for a footballer these days - the only one back in the day was Joe Anyway, a team of Jordans - Pickford, Henderson, Ibe ust be shoe-ins - plus that bird with too much cosmetic work and a perma-tan as manager ? Cousins 😬

He's a central midfielder. Joe Allen replacement. If so, you may aswell relegate us now Well he already managed to help with one relegation, he may as well stick around and help us with another.

I really don't see how Thompson is going to walk into the squad for Monday, but we have fewer options in midfield now so he'll probably make the bench!!

I have watched Jordan Thompson play for NI from u19 level through to the senior team. When you were watching him as a 18-19 year old, you knew he would go on to play for the senior team as he was technically a level above most of his teammates, thats the one thing that stands out about him more than anything else, his ability on the ball, he is very comfortable in possession and can pick a pass short or long.
It's going to be interesting to see how he handles playing in the Championship, i have a feeling he is one of those players who plays better when surrounded by better players, i have seen him at underage level for NI making intelligent passes and good runs off the ball but his teammates were not on the same wavelength as him, this last year or so MON has been slowing integrating him into the senior NI team, he has been coming off the bench in qualifiers and in his second start for NI in a friendly against the Czech Republic, he was one of the best players on the pitch, with MON having had a role overseeing all aspects of football in NI he is very aware of all the young players coming through and has been watching Jordan for many years and must feel confident in his ability to move up a division.
I seen someone mention his time at Rangers, he was very unlucky when at Rangers, he arrived on trial originally for the youth team but when the then Rangers manager Mark Warburton seen him train and play, he was signed a senior player and went into the first team squad, he made a few appearances off the bench and did well, before he was sent out on loan to get experience, the biggest problem he had at Rangers was the unlucky timing of his loans, he went out to Raith Rovers and during that time Mark Warburton resigned and the caretaker manager (Graeme Murty) and then the new mananger (Pedro Caixinha) came in and both gave lots of young players games but he was stuck at Raith, the next season was the same story, he was sent out on loan to Livingston by Caixinha and two months into the season Caixinha was sacked and again Murty took charge and ye again young players were given opportunities but he was stuck at Livingston.
