”Why did I reply to that pointless and stupid thread around 22:56 last night.”

I should be able to resist this but here we go.
We are a city fucked by deindustrialisation, there are over 300 foodbanks, the town sees little investment and is struggling. When I'm there I'm always relieved by the fact that unlike Derby the people are friendly and thoroughly decent, a scouse-esque community atmosphere.
All of this then just confuses me as to how we, along with the mining communities, Skinner's constituency etc, end up voting for tories after the 1980s at all much less a government which is going to only increase the strain on the city's people and facilities to levels I dare not think about.
SOT, like much of the country, has been conned through xenophobia and nationalism into being the puppets of the rich elite.
When they sing it tomorrow I'll feel the same shame and disgust with England that I have for quite some years now.

They made the general election all about that. Democracy bit them in the ass. You should be absolutely proud that as a nation we have stood up and said fuck you, know your place. That might be to our detriment but is something to be proud of.

That might be to our detriment but is something to be proud of. Oh politics in this country is a polarised mess, I'm certainly not going to defend Corbyn. In no way is voting for the Johnson some sort of protest vote though, it's the total opposite. It's going to bring around complete oppression from the establishment. A protest vote would be to ruin your ballet paper or vote green like I did, though I only feel comfortable doing either as I'm in the Derbyshire Dales which has been Tory forever so my vote has little significance. In no way is voting in a racist toff like Johnson sticking it to anyone but ourselves and the very poorest. Food banks should not be an accepted or common thing. I am training to become a history teacher and I see the effects of the tories, the class sizes when I went to school at the end of Blair's time were about two thirds the size of what they are now and the academies are a joke imo, not to mention the implications on the NHS. Imagine fucking over your children, the very poorest and in many cases fucking over yourselves and thinking this was some sort of brilliant protest. I despair.

"Town full of Tories!" When Reading sing this tomorrow what will be your respnse? Firstly I'd say, 'fuck off we're a City not a bastard town'. Secondly I'd say, 'I know it's fucking tragic isn't it, I'm ashamed'. Probably to the tune of Seven Nation Army.

What the fuck affiliation to any political party has to do with supporting a football team I have no idea. The fact that it is being discussed makes it worse. I would be more worried if visiting supporters queried the IQ of most Stokies as being a little higher than pond life creatures. Well not worried at all - I would expect it.

Quite a lot if you have a quick google about it. You can even look as close as Celtic/Rangers for a quick and dirty reference. Maybe even Liverpool as an example of leftist leaning Our "twin" club St Pauli.... who are completely at the other end of the spectrum of what has just happened in Stoke & this country. Outside of that, Livorno/Verona is a left/right rivalry. I think Vallecano are pretty lefty too. edit: and right wing clubs exist too, Lazio, a lot of Russian clubs will be for example

"The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the Axe... the Axe was clever and convinced the Trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them."
I'd be really impressed if the Reading fans could make a song out of this!

Don’t be ashamed if you voted Tory. As a hard working, Law abiding, Ex Labour voting, Ex armed forces, Stokie, I have zero shame that I voted to repel Corbyn / Labour Party from running the country I love. Anyone who believes your situation or that of your hard pressed neighbours would have been improved long term by enabling a Corbyn / McDonnell / Abbot Government is simply deluded. “Bowen is a Tory”
