We don’t need to be the next Sunderland - we are the same old Stoke - we’ve done all this before.

In all honesty we could end up worse than Sunderland the way things are going.

We learnt nothing from other teams prem relegationsvand FFP. We have blown it big time.
I have tried to defend the players but our recruitment has been dire. We do need to support MON though. I bet he is as bewildered as the rest of us.
Home truths to the players is a step in the right direction. 100% attitude is the minimum requirement. We desparately need to beat Luton now. No excuses.
God what a mess.

Whilst there are plenty of similarities in the free falls of both clubs, the main difference between us and Sunderland is they've been skint for years and have owners who don't give a shit about the club. We don't have that excuse.
Unforgivable

We don't have that excuse. Unforgivable Absolutely right. It was almost bound to happen at Sunderland. For it to happen to us displays a level of incompetence I don't believe I've seen in my life. And I don't mean just in football. What a mess. A wholly unnecessary mess.

I know it's strange, but I don't think we could have ended up in the mess we have by incompetence alone... some conscious decisions have had to be made to see us arrive at where we are. I just can't work out what's in it for the hierarchy to have knowingly and blissfully let it get this bad... is there some tax right off that would kick in somehow as I just don't believe a business can be run so badly without intervention and allowed to fail.

Sunderland have an excuse. They had no money to really launch a strong campaign in the championship, whereas we did.

They actually want Nathan Jones! I like the fan who says now would be the perfect time to appoint him because he would have the rest of the season to bed in without any expectations.

Sunderland, as you say, have had little to no investment whereas we've thrown millions into being this shit.

I recently watched the 'Sunderland till I die' program on Netflix and found the similarities of their performances in their relegation season to us this season, scary. I'm pretty sure that even they had more points than us by this stage of the season. It really was concerning, the odd victory would lift the fans and they'd think a corner had been turned but they were false dawns as the team would then lose the next 3 with spineless performances. Sounds familiar right?
As someone has said earlier, the difference is that they had owner that wasn't interested and wanted out of the club so the CEO and Managers hands were completely tied with financial restraints and they had a poor squad in the first place. In theory, we had a strong squad at the start of this season and signed no less than 12 players to supplement our 'promotion challenge'.
How it's happened to us is mystery to everyone, Sunderland was expected. I just hope our story has a different ending to theirs!
