Without been blinded by the win and three points ........ thought he was dreadful yet again and to be honest him and Powell made it 9 v 11 or 8 v 11 if we include Butland. He is the epitome of what’s wrong when we’re in possession hides next to his marker and is scared shitless of receiving a pass while running. His lack of movement is atrocious. Right midfield a must with pace come Jan1 st.

No need for any negatives today. Let's just leave it for another day.

No need for any negatives today. Let's just leave it for another day. Great to win but that was a very poor ‘NJ’ performance. Thankfully we now have a sane manager who changes for the better in a positive manner.

Totally share your view of Ince and Powell today, I thought myself if we'd had 11 playing we'd have hammered them. I get the impression that Ince's right leg is purely for standing on, he certainly doesn't use it for anything else. He may do better playing on the left side but on the right he's a disaster. Powell drifts out of the game far too often for long periods and avoids contact at all costs. Both very poor. Can't believe I'm saying this but they could both learn a lot by watching McClean putting in a shift.

Hopefully as we build confidence and develop a team ethos he can show us that he can be a good player at this level.

my thoughts exactly mate, Ince he's one big tart, and Powell he never even broke sweat, James McLean as his faults, but if they put his effort into the game, we would be a better team for it

He did an ace sliding tackle in the last few seconds (see, I stayed till the end...)
I thought most would be all over him like a rash after that...

I thought he looked a threat first half, but second half not so much. Dreadful is a bit harsh. He did get more involved in the final third and was involved in the goal.
You are right in what you say though. He appears to hide by his markers or put himself in a position where he cannot receive it. He is just a bit of a bottler and someone with no tactical understanding of the game, which is a shame given he does have footballing ability.
Doesn't help that Edwards is also a bit of a bottler right now.

As a full back, he must be so easy to play against. Show him the outside every time. Rarely seen a player so one footed.

He put in more running than usual. I'd like to think Verlinden has a chance of playing there. I think Ince will come good with a run of games. Hard to play in front of a crowd when you know that every one of your mistakes will result in getting abuse similar to Afobe.

Most of the time they doubled up on him so they obviously felt he was a threat.

His positioning and closing down was better today.
I think he's made an effort to become more of a team player and lost some of his spark in the process, resulting in very tentative performances.
Hate to say it but we need the selfish Ince back. That guy scores goals.

He missed two sitters, didn’t put in a cross all day, but did at least try. I sincerely hope Verlinden is given a chance by O’Neil.

Bayern in nearly two years of watching him, he’s closer to being dog shit than he is to being a good player- please don’t tell me what he was like before he came to Stoke, because he’s shown nothing like that form here. Seems to me that club’s see his limitations pretty quickly when they have him on a daily basis- hence why he’s constantly moved on.

I watched Powell today quite closely and thought quite a lot of his play showed a lot of intelligence.
Intelligence may seem a strange word to use, but he seemed to have an ability to momentarily hesitate to see what his opponent was going to do and then play the ball accordingly.
A particular example which may have past most people by was in our left wing, second half, Boothen corner when he played what appeared to be a simple five yard pass to McClean(I think) and took out 3/4 defenders.
There is definitely a player in there.
