I think there's legs in this. Aberdeen have overpriced players before when we've gone in but I should think this time they are desperate for the money. I reckon in today's market £1m gets him, nowhere close now to what the French club offered. I agree. I think this one will happen

Similar to Alfie with Charlton, swing them a small amount to secure him for next season and loaned back? Helps Aberdeen not having to replace him and likely a much needed quick cash boost.

I don't see any point in that, he's a real weird one. He's not a traditional goalscorer, as I see it, but he has attributes that could work for us in the next 6 months with the loans we have and Campbells injury. If he grows into the role long term great. Its just dead money if he's not going to contribute to the run in. We cant really do that sort of business with the players stuck on our books. Doughty is a completely different case and ideally McLean's long term replacement who needs to get fit again and worth waiting for.

Clubs are hardly splashing the cash as it is. Very tricky situation and we have learn not to be hard on our management or the club.

Getting them out on loan even if we’re paying their wages though needs to happen. I know that doesn’t help us now but it might help us in 6 months and is better than having them around doing fuck all.

Sadly after watching the under 23 match yesterday, nobody is signing Bauer or Wimmer anytime soon. Both looked awful, Wimmer a pub player at best.

Maybe but he’s average is pretty poor. Reading some of the Aberdeen comments as well they don’t rate him either

Since we were linked the last time, I've watched him a few times and if it was a choice between him and Vokes the welsh Shearer just misses out!

Maybe but he’s average is pretty poor. Reading some of the Aberdeen comments as well they don’t rate him either Yeah - they're not keen on him, are they? www.afc-chat.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/45505-january-2021/page/45/#commentsStoke preparing an offer for Cosgrove, Michael O’Neil watched him v Sevco last week. After that wild slash early doors, I’d be amazed if he’s still interested. And Stoke aren’t daft, they know they can screw us down to probably under £1m. Could we resist that lowball offer? Scottish Sun
Hopefully they bid anything and we can get in another striker instead
I will break COVID rules, fly from Canada to Aberdeen and then personally drive Cosgrove to Stoke (whilst seeing my family in Stoke on the way) if that is true.
If he watched him against SEVCO, or at pretty much anytime in 2020, you’d have to question the sanity of any manager at a club, with aspirations to the EPL, willing to spend decent money on him. We can but hope
Fingers crossed that Stoke come up with an acceptable figure but I have my doubts if they have been scouting him.
Please be true.
On the basis he’s been horse shit all year, I doubt it will be. And he was allegedly watched against the filth at Pittodrie. That left footed attempt in the first half, when he had plenty time to control it, or get it on to his preferred right foot, was something you’d see on Sheddocksley Playing Fields from a pub team.
We need some good luck. Its been all downhill this past few weeks. The sale of Cosgrove and Wright could change our fortunes for the better.
Sad to see how low the opinion is on Cosgrove now. Best striker we have had in a long time. Heads been turned this season and missed a lot injured but the two previous were very good imo.
I think much of the reaction is to his lack of effort at times, we all agree DMs tactics don’t help any striker but have a go, make an effort and a lot is forgiven. They have to remember how we laud them when they perform. Not big Sam, but less rhetoric in the paper and more effort on the pitch!
That’s the crux of it. We’ve seen the two sides of his game. When he gets on a roll he can be a huge asset but when his form dips the work-rate we get from him isn’t enough, hence why he’s been in and out of the team this season. It’s also possible he’s been promised a move which could explain why we’re trying to persevere with Main. I think we all felt we’d made a good investment in Cosgrove which could earn the club a decent wedge when he moved on but that seems less and less likely now.
When he's focused and confident he's an absolute handful. Similar to Edouard in that transfer speculation has made them look nothing like what they're capable of.

I can’t understand why we are fishing in the Scottish pool, are things really that bad? We’ve already shown we can attract young premier league players. I imagine there are higher quality, cheaper alternatives playing in Scandinavian, Dutch leagues for example who would jump at the chance to join us. I’ve never seen this guy play but everything points to this being a move of desperation if indeed it’s even a possibility. I do wonder if we have scouts in Europe at all, we can’t have.

With Fletcher fit again and Gregory not too far away I wouldn't gamble on any lower league or Scotish striker now. Save the money for next season unleass we can bring in a quality striker, which means we will have to loan someone. That would also be better for next season as we don't have to offload another body who isn't good enough for a promotion fighting or promoted team.

Is it worth having scouts in Europe now though? It's not going to be straightforward getting players from Europe who will eligible to play here with the new points system, especially for clubs like Stoke.

I know we need a striker, but are we really this desperate?
A player that is panned pretty badly by his own fans, whilst playing mostly against League One (Two?) standard teams most weeks?
Why bother?
