His choice- as long as he refrains from quoting terrorists again.

It’s all been covered year after year with the same stuff
No offence it’s a good point but these threads just regurgitate people’s polarised opinions
Edit ....the posts below are about to back up my point

My Great Uncle, who fought in the First World War, would not wear, what he called, a "Haig" poppy saying it was a cynical ploy to rehabilitate Earl Haig. A different reason to McClean but still valid. No one should be forced to wear a poppy.

I can’t believe anyone seriously wants to make an issue of this anymore - I only hope this club’s supporters can rise above the pond life who do.

This week, we received news that McClean’s wife has received death threats and “abusive packages” have been sent to him at Stoke City’s (his current club) training ground. Whoever has done this wants jailing.

The sensible decision from Delap would be to exclude him completely from tonight's squad ensuring no pantomime. Then everyone can get on with doing whatever we can to win a game of footie without the distraction.

I agree and we'll have the added bonus of another game where we don't have to watch him floundering about. My blood pressure will be grateful.

I really don't care I have my stance he had his. I don't agree with his stance but that's as far as it goes. Much more controversial shit posted on here to disagree with.

Very revealing series. Many were and still are unsure who knew what and when. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0008c47/spotlight-on-the-troubles-a-secret-history-series-1-episode-1"Fifty years after troops were sent onto the streets of Northern Ireland, a leading team of investigative journalists uncover secrets about the decades-long conflict that claimed more than 3,700 lives. Reporter Darragh MacIntyre opens the series, discovering an array of new evidence, including previously classified documents, unseen film and fresh testimony from key new witnesses to the origins of the Troubles. It throws light on the formation of the Provisional Irish Republican Army as well as the parts played by radicals who became elder statesmen like Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness."

I hope he won't get chance to wear one especially at left back. If he plays left wing he can't cross. Good runner , that's all. I would play 3 up front , with two inside forwards like Liverpool- campbell as one and Ince or Powell as other but i’m not Delap, i’m Colin.

I'm in a foul "Monday mood" and not looking forward to a trip to the Bet365 tonight either. Fully prepared to give any gammon both barrels if I hear any sh*t tonight - just because. And yes, I'll be wearing a poppy.

I do get the reason & respect McClean choosing not to wear one & would prefer that to someone who wore one who had reasons & preferred not to. Did notice Klopp & Aguero wearing them at the weekend though & did think fair play as imagine they could of made a subconscious decision not to..

Really? I bet there's more than a few Union Flags/St George Flags in their Twitter profiles What's that got to do with it ? Have you been on Twitter in the last couple of years or so? You can pretty much put your mortgage on the fact that anyone with the Nation's flags in their Twitter header usually backs it up with pro-Brexit, anti-Europe, borderline right-wing comments as well. - I'm a proud flag-waving Brit (or used to be), don't get me wrong - but I'm sick of the flag(s) being hi-jacked by "a certain type".
