Well I don’t think he is going to find the cosy little gatherings that comprise one of our press conferences too challenging is he ? Very impressive.

That’s a fair comment, the top one. I'd take maybe McNair, Saville, Peacock-Farrell... All positions we don't particularly need.

Don't be too sure, I'm pretty sure the club will sell a couple of our star MFs and a GK this January to raise revenue to buy. We have too many high activity "busy" MFs and we need a more competent defensive MF in the Whelan mould, and a more creative MF who actually makes assists for the forwards to score. Plus we need a LB.

How heartening FM it is other people talking about our manager rather than the man himself! Here’s hoping! Again!

Am I right in thinking that NI's last group game is now a dead rubber? It has absolutely no consequences should they win, lose or draw?
We, on the other hand, face a massive home game against another struggling team in the league on Saturday.
Shouldn't our manager just come back now and focus on what is abundantly clear his main priority right now? Spend some time with the squad and prepare as best as possible?

The only way he would enter negotiations with us was on the understanding that he'd be released from his club duties to finish whatever business he wanted to finish after an 8 year stint building things up. No understanding = no him I think it's a price well worth paying for a manager of that calibre, are you saying it isn't?

If NI beat the Netherlands they'd have an absolutely massive game on tomorrow night. As it is, they didn't win and they now have a dead rubber. A completely meaningless game. Meanwhile his new employers, who have just doubled his wages, have got a really important home game coming up at the weekend. I guarantee this very thought has crossed his mind. Hes an intelligent guy.

There really isnt anyone with a bad word about o'Neil is there? I loved his understated entrance and departure from the oakwell pitch. I said early doors that Jones was a modern day Alan ball. Let's hope we've replaced him with a modern day Lou macari. He has a certain aura about him that makes you feel assured, hard to explain but the way he speaks, acts and conducts himself reminds me of Alex Ferguson. Curtain aura

The easiest thing in the world would've been for O'Neill to have taken the two international games, rock up on Thursday to be unveiled as our new manager, watch Saturday's game sat next to Peter Coates and start work in earnest on Monday. I don't know what all the fuss is about.
