March is the one. The two games now are not ideal but I think it’s understandable and reasonable if we wanted him. And indeed he could have just said he’d take over for the Wigan game and we’d already be three points worse off probably. Two more games in four months’ time at the business end of a relegation battle season (when who knows what kind of shape we’ll be in) is mental and should never have entered the discussion. Fingers crossed we get away with it because I do like the guy. We'll be in mid table obscurity by March so there will be zero to worry about. Mid table obscurity would be heaven right now 😊

I'd actually be far less concerned about him taking them in the summer than now and March. There's now way they'd get past the group stage and he'd be done and dusted by week commencing 21st June. Everything that needs to be done in that period can easily be done on the phone. If we're still in the bottom three when he buggers off in March again of course it will be a massive issue. If we still are in the bottom three in March, then it would be safe to say that he has been ineffective in the management of the team, and probably not such a massive issue.
Was going to say exactly this!
If we're realistically still staring relegation in the face 4 months AFTER him taking over, then how many people would be sitting there thinking "Shit we really need O'Neill here right now, as he's done so well trying to save us from the drop so far" anyway?

Surely there will be a new NI manager in place in the next few weeks

Makes sense to focus on club efforts. Even more so should we start winning consistently or vice versa to be fair.

Surely there will be a new NI manager in place in the next few weeks No, Michael will be in charge for the play-off game(s) in March, he has made it very clear in the last week to the NI press, that he feels the best chance NI have of qualifying is with him in charge and that it would be very hard for someone new to come in and have only 3 training sessions to work with the squad before a massive play-off game. His NI commitments in March won't affect his time at Stoke apart from the week he is away for the game(s) themselves, he said himself he won't be scouting any NI players anymore, we pick our 25 man squad from around a total of 35 players and Michael knows them all inside out so doesn't need to go watch them.

We need to give O’Neill an ultimatum; Stoke or Northern Ireland.
He has to decide and he has to decide next week.
If he wants to continue with Northern Ireland then that’s his choice but he shouldn’t be our manager as well.
We are a full-time football club and we simply have to have a full-time manager.

Wonder who we could get if he decides to stick with Northern Ireland? There's no one who really stands out.

O’Neill doesn’t have to think about Northern Ireland for a good 4 months now and that means we don’t have to either, let’s get to that bridge when we cross it. For now, we should take O’Neill at face value: 1 win, 0 draws, 0 losses. Hoping to make it 2.

Interesting answer when asked if he'd manage NI if they qualified.
You could see he really wanted to - but said it'd be Stoke's decision in the end

Passion has its place but after Jones I’m all passioned out.
Great to see a calm and rational manager on the sideline.
Good subs today as well.
He was also encouraging the defence to move the ball out more quickly.
A brief applause to the fans and off after a last minute winner, I’d imagine Jones would have had bruises on his chest. 😆
Really like what I see so far
