Last year we had 3 sets of players :-
1) Players who were given new contracts and kept on there Prem wages.
2) Players who either weren't given new contracts and reverted to championship wages or came into the club on Championship wages.
3) Players who were no longer welcome and either stayed away or were made to train with the youth.
This year you can add a fourth :-
4) bargain basement buys who are probably on average/ low wages for the championship.
Now if groups 2 and 4 are looking at groups 1 and 3 and thinking they aren't much better than me, they aren't really trying and want to leave (and in the case of group 3 they haven't even got to earn their money) and they're earning shed loads more than me, it doesn't take a genius to work out there's going to be major disquiet in the dressing room.
If I was in groups 2 and 4 at work I'd be pretty peed off and not exactly motivated. Is this the major source of the issues spoken about? Until we get rid of groups 1 and 3 will things improve. I dont think so and by that time we might be in league 1.
Just a thought. I maybe barking up completely the wrong tree.

Lee Gregory is allegedly one of the better paid players in the league.....

I suspect this is a major issue, apply it to your own workplace. I'd be tittsed off if I was getting less pay than a colleague who did nothing for more pay.

For an older player of average ability that would surprise me.
As I said though just a theory.

It might have been an issue last season when some people were given new contracts and not others. And also the Rowett boys were probably pissed off when they arrived but now the players who have come in since January know the situation so presumably can’t then be annoyed about it surely?

Even so if you're seeing somebody on mega money not earning it, it's going to be annoying whenever you've come in.

Can't see any player coming in on low/ave championship wages. Their agents will know that we're relatively cash rich in comparison to most of the competition.

Even Diouf, Bauer and Bruno tried. And I don’t think they’d choose to be in the bomb squad if they’d had a choice to play?

See yesterday's performance.

I was thinking specifically about Allen and Butland. I like Joe Allen and I have and will continue to defend him. But he was kept on his prem wages. Will the other players be looking at him and be thinking he's worth his prem wages. Maybe he shouldn't have been given the new contract.
If I was the other two keepers I'd be looking at Butland and be thinking mega money, Premier League, Englands no 1 REALLY?

They tried in the first half and then looked disheartened. They looked like the weren’t organised and didn’t know what they were supposed to be doing. I don’t really blame them for being disheartened. If many fans are losing confidence in Jones they must be too.

As professional footballers they will acknowledge that people can have a loss of form and won’t be thinking, “they’re playing shit at the moment but getting paid twice what I am”. Yes both are in bad form but I don’t think it’s from lack of effort for either of them. However the “they aren’t even training with the club, let alone playing and are getting paid twice what I am” thought must be going through the minds of some if not all.

Pay structure for every club. Win 100% wages. Draw 75% wages. Lose 50% wages. If you don't like it,fuck off,go get a job in Aldi.
