We got rid of Bojan for this fella 🤦♂️ Bojan's basically retired in the MLS, says it all about where he is in his career. Yeah he got forced out of the club he loved for the sake of one Nathan Jones....well worth remembering when Jones meets his Judgment Day!

Powell sadly is a lower league Daniel Sturridge. Does his hamstring putting his socks on. A great talent but I'd imagine his career has been Plays 6 Misses 5 Plays 3 Misses 7
Etc etc
We will do well to get 30 games out of him. Was a gamble but for free transfer they chose to take it

For that reason (he never played that many games) he never really came onto my radar as a "must get" player.
Equally, have heard it said by a few neutrals that he's up there as "the best player in the division".
He better lop a good old dollop of deep heat on, strap up and get right down to it then asap please Nick.

A massive gamble on a perennial sick note of a player, not as good as Bojan with a similar if not worse injury record.

Just before the season started there was a preview of The Championship season. I can't actually recall who it was who said it so don't want to make up a name. But when it came to talking about us this guy said Stoke have got the best player in The Championship it's more of a case of can he stay fit and focussed. Only 5 games so plenty of time to get us on board but worrying signs already

It was that 'Clem' (?) bloke - the baldie one who, as much as he tries to get a bit too smoochy with everyone he talks to (like they're all his best mate), he does know his onions in the EFL tbf.

Yes that's him. Got very good knowledge and is employed for that very reason. If he says Powell is top notch I'd tend to take more notice than if Michael Brown or Dean Ashton said so .

Its almost as if we all saw this coming. Some of us did but the rose tinted brigade on here dismissed us as knicker wetters, wrist slashers, any one with an ounce of footballing nous saw this coming in Hughes's penultimate season, shit signings a PL club ran like a non league outfit, shit managers, total apathy and gross incompetence from the board have fcuked the club up .

When you look at the amount of times in the qpr game Powell was kicked, not tackled or stopped another ways, but genuinely kicked with limited or no protection from the ref it's no wonder that he was injured in or as a result of that game. So I think it's a little early to write him off just yet.
However it appears that Jones thinks along the same lines as some fans above. If Powell was fit to play PNE and did not get newly injured which is what Jones said in his pre match presser, why did Jones not select "the best player in Championship football" (not my words) to give the team a lift and some other options in a very creativitydeprived team? Or following that piss poor game against Leeds?
Apparently he finds Ince, Duffy, and Gregory more creative and effective. That's good, because no one else could see that at any stage in the last two games.
He's probably not selecting the best player in the Championship for the exact same reason that he did not select the best player in recent Stoke history last season...

However, why we spent the whole window chasing gayle when we could have gone for vydra as # 10 and striker baffles me, especially when powell has a history of injuries

No he's not on £27k a week, I could tell you how much but I won't as that's his business. What we do have to take into consideration is that there was no fee involved, so bear in mind what his transfer fee could have been and all in all it's a pretty good deal, he will be back to full fitness very soon and will be a very astute bit of business for Stoke.Gouranga.

Ah ok. That was being banded around at the time he was signed. He’s a good player don’t get me wrong. Wonder how he’ll feel competing with Ince and Duffy for the No.10 role in this system though. Terrible waste in my opinion not playing a system that accommodates at least two. Yet more unhappy players at Stoke if that doesn’t change soon.

He's a limping sick note mate if we are pinning our hopes of survival on him we are well and truly fcuked, he was on a free for a reason like the majority of the one's we have brought in.

He made 32 appearances for Wigan last season and 45 the season before, compare that with Ryan Shawcross who made 36 last season and 27 the season before, or Tom Edwards 29 and 7, Sam Clucas 28 and 36, Etebo 37, so he isn't that far away in comparison with other players, he's been unlucky so far this season but it's a bit early to call him a limping sick note and a bit unfair TBH. Gouranga.

Who knows what formation jones will try next though

I think Jones needs to be a little street wise in Press Cofrences.
If Powell is going to be a kicking target as he was against QPR, and Ince also recently was, he should be making it plain, loud and clear. The protection from officials is non existent. Opponents were taking it in turns to have a go. Make the message clear prior to the kick off and the Referees will have to stamp down on it early.
The Powell abuse was hardly mentioned after the game!!

I’d heard 3 things about Powell before he signed
Decent player
Always injured
Doesn’t really like playing football
I don’t think he’s always injured just not in any rush to come back and do something he doesn’t enjoy
